Does anyone have a GOOD contact re:cleaning up/restoring an intercooler? I've got one that's seen decent road use(ie: the fins are mostly slightly folded, etc)and I'd like to have the whole thing straightened out, polished up etc. Basically,I CBF doing it myself, and am happy to pay someone to have it professionally done. Next stop is contacting all the I/C manufacturers, but I figured someone here would have a good contact. Oh,I'm in Canberra, but am happy to freight it wherever...

do it yourself you lazy bastard.....i did my old one before i sold it as well as straightening all the fins on my TOP SECRET "super" radiator....just sat down on the lounge in front of the telly with a steak knife and started row by row (took me about a week) the intercooler was done with spray-on paint stripper, came up a treat.

Hey fellas , Sorry for bring such a old thread out of the ground but i rather continue this thread considering its the same type of topic..

I own a 94 R32 gtr

Now i've read whats above and im going to have to bend some fins that are bent. But my real question is i would love to have this intercooler looking like a brand new polished up aftermarket looking intercooler if i could ???

Such a way ?? Anyone done it ??

R32 GTR intercooler is good enuf for the power band i want (330 awkw)

I dont particularly want to cut my bar to fit a aftermarket intercooler either....

Plus genuine aint defectable xD

So anyone that can help me please do so :)

I appreciate it

You can buy a tool to do it. I think its called a radiator comb or something like that.

It wont look brand new i doubt, if its had a good whalloping over its life, but it will come close to it. And with a fresh lick of paint it will look decent.

Aprently. If you want a shiny intercooler. Which it sounds like. Then straighten all fins. Use a aerosol paint remover. Hose off. Make sure to get between the fins.

Then either side of the fins where the frame of the intercooler is. Hit it with brasso shiny shiny. Won't look new but it I'd prefer that over a black intercooler.

thanks man ! yeah i wna get that tuff gtr front intercooler .... Might end up just buying a aftermarket one,

im after about 300-330 kw atw give or take, so whats recommended? Chinese shitters do the same shit ??

Id Much prefer if i cud just change the intercooler itself and keep the genuine piping, i dont wna cut the bar.

To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
