The Mafia
Do i need the Flywheel ? Nath I've asked this question many tiems too. 80% of honest people say "no, just get it machined." Everyone talks about lightened flywheels, but not really worth it, the factory one was designed quite good. Talk to Jim Berry... He'll tell you some good honest things. Ill prolly find a good machinest and get them to fix it up , cost me 50 bucks or something compared to 600 odd . Anyone else think Flywheel is necessary or not please tell your thoughts Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/69220-xtreme-hd-ceramic-clutch-experiences/page/4/#findComment-1364109 Share on other sites
Bobjones
Get it machined, The fly wheel is designed at a certain weight for counterbalance in the engine...it will rev better but you will loose torque as the reciprocating mass has declined. Oh and I only have the HD full organic clutch, I do drive in traffic so any heavier and I think it would be a bitch... confuzion
my 9puk xtreme heavy duty is slipping on launches big time now, its about 1000km's old. go the twin plate or something more hardcore Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/69220-xtreme-hd-ceramic-clutch-experiences/page/4/#findComment-1364148 Share on other sites
predator
must be installed incorrectly, you're running a lot of power, or some other problem. twin plates can destroy old gearboxes and drivetrains.. most cars I have seen running high power have got by quite successfully with the correct single plate clutch for their needs. someonestolecc
just a Quick note.. I thought id add this as im looking possibly for a new clutch soon and have been hovering over this Thread for Weeks like some I rang SAS and they have Quoted $660 for supply of the DCBHD and supply of New flywheel as well $620.44 for the Flywheel . $1280.44 . Is this a reasonable price for this kit ? as im still rather confused here hehe . Do i need the Flywheel ? Nath $600 for a flywheel seems excessive to me. But GTRs maybe require a special flywheel, in which case I take it back Stick with your stock one, machined, unless you need that extra %2 of responsiveness from your car. I would honostly do this closer to the end of the "doing up" thing unless convinced otherwise.
