Its a fair cop.

3 Years?! Thats a really long suspension. Errr.... mind if I ask what you actually did to get delt out intially such a large suspension period? That is a seriously long time.

um............running a red light is not 'petty shit' people get killed doing that.  tough shit if some kid went to cross the road.  if you think that's petty i sure hope that you dont get your licence back for a long time.  i feel i speak on behalf of a lot of sensible drivers here on SAU.

haha clearly you dont even know the situation.

haha clearly you dont even know the situation.

There is no situation that makes it ok or "less bad" to run a red light, its one of the worst things you can do when driving a car. Its dangerous. People who run red lights kill innocent people. Full stop.

I'm not saying that i know ur situation but i think you should take responsibility for your own actions and cop it. Maybe you shouldn't be driving? If you have only been driving for such a short time and already you are running red lights/speeding etc, maybe you need a break from your licence. It sounds like you didnt learn much whilst you were on ur L plates.

Sorry if i sound harsh but thats what i think. Think about ur actions.

You are in the wrong, bend over and cop it sweet.

what he said

you broke the law on a number of occasions. yet, you want to appeal the loss of a lisence? when you get your lisence it comes with the conditions that you abide by the laws of the road. you broke the law (on number of occasions) and you have to cop it. simple.

you need your lisence for work? should have thought of that mate before you broke the law... that's the responsibility that comes with being 18+ and having a lisence.

i don't mean to be harse here mate, it just sounds a little stupid. its like saying

"i killed a guy, but i can't go to jail as i have work to go to in the morning, so do you think they judge will just let me off?"

Everyones done dumb shit paladin, you included, dont try and deny it. The important thing is whether u learn from it or not.

Hmmm- I find it hard to believe you "learn" from your mistakes if you don't take responsibility for them?

I know a few guys who lost their licences when they were young and stupid, and have come out better drivers because of it (catching public transport for a year will do that to you).

We might not like the laws, but we all said we'd drive to them when we got our licences.

And, I'm with Paladin and xRHETTx - there's no excuse for running a red, or talking on a mobile when you're driving for that matter- that's why God invented the handsfree kit.

messiah,

you are right, everyone has done dumb shite before. i have too in a car, though out of inexperience. but this guy dosent see it as dumb, he see's it as petty. and his suspension not as justice, but as an incovinience. as though he's done nothing wrong. and if he dosent think he's done anything wrong, he'll keep running reds and breaking the law. that's where the problem is.......................

oh true. yeah just got my green p's//

funny tho i still have not been pulled over in my gtr.. yet.

it says i have the right of an appeal, and to lodge one at a local court in nsw within 28 days.

is that a letter or could i just get my solicitor to do so?

Yes everyone has a right to appeal BUT considering the offences you have mentioned the judge will throw it out and the court fees will have to be payed by you for wasting their time.

Id think twice before going to court probably should cop the suspesion and learn from it

Andrew, I believe that you are having your licence suspended due to exceeding 7 demerit points, is that correct? If so from memory the mandatory period of suspension is 6 months. I think the best thing to do is cop it and get it over and done with. you could opt for the 12 months on 1 point thing, but it'll be pretty hard for you to keep that one point for 12 months, and if you do lose that point then you will cop it much worse.

we're not all angels!!!

and i dont see it as an inconvinience.. my boss does not have a licence so i have to drive for work. which will effect the business. my job and his business!!

3 month suspension.. but i need my licence for work. i occasionaly drive a light truck to go pick up machines from over nsw.. as my boss dosnt have a licence, he depends on me....

My boss is organising his barrister to do it for me. so hopefully it will work out ok.

i beleive i can be ok on the 1, or 2 point's they give you for however months it is... i'll definatley not be driving the skyline for sure. to and from the track is about all. petrol sucks!!

Anyone selling a cheep shitter with a 10 months rego????

Andrew.

Perhaps you should take these things into consideration before you go running red lights.

If you think that running a red light is petty, you don't deserve a licence.

I need to appeal my licence suspension.

its for petty shit like

talking on phone, red light, and driving a manual when ment to be in an auto.

Andrew.

Yes, yes you did. But enough of the arguing.

I ran a red light once, i was coming up to a left hand turn into a 3 lane road, (so I had a lot of room to do it quickly), and just snuck through after the amber went to red. It was totally safe, and I scanned and shoulder checked. I got my letter in the mail.. 3 points and $xxx ..

I copped it and paid the fine, but if i had done the equivelant in the USA it would have been legal.

when i wrote petty shit i didnt mean to include the red light. but just the manual and phone shit.

and i was asking for advice from people. or similar experiences. not idiots telling me what i've done wrong.. you think i dont know already?

    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
