Whining Noise

Hey people i got a whining noise comming from under my bonnet. When im driving it seems to be comming from the left side. I am thinking it could be my water pump. Is this the kind of noise it does when its on its way out?

whining as in metal or like a humming noise

if it does it when idleing get a big screwdriver and prod all over your engine with your ear on the end of the screwdriver it will help give a actual whereabouts of actual noise

also get someone to rev it whilst doing this
