Good day all

Since I am new to this forum I think introductions are in order. I am 25 years old and live in South Africa.

First off all I'd like to say that its a honor to meet the people with the big guns. Unfortunately I do not drive a Skyline and I think never will in South Africa since it a very rare car here.

The closest I ever was to a skyline R34 GTR was watching 2 fast 2 furious movie. LOL. I know its bad.

Fortunately I will be emigrating to Australia and hopefully my dream will become a reality and one day own a Skyling GTR. Since I am a very big fan and love the car ever since I saw it.

Anyways I just wanted to say hello.

hey man welcome to the site hope that u injoy ur stay man. just a word of warning is that it is a R34 GTR not a gtr v34. haha he is proberly thinking of a R34 gtr V-Spec. but anyway hope to see some good posts from over there, see what the scene is ova there.

Thats the one man. Was typing so quick I got lost on keyboard. Guys just one question I got. How much money do you haveto make a year to be able to buy one of these and to maintain it.

Reason I'm asking this is that a R34 GTR in SA is about R800K if worked out back to Aus $ it comes down to about $170K in your currancy and for me to afford that I'll have to work for 5 years none stop.

I know this is sort of personal but if I was looking at R34 for about $90K whats it going to cost me a month and how much do I have to earn a year.

I know its a lot of Q's for a started guys but I have to know couse I want me a GTR. Hehehehehe

Hi lukeD welcome to the sau forums. Glad to hear the skyline is held in such high regard in your neck of the woods.

$170K dammn :freak: you could get two for that price here...plus change.

This will really depend on your occupation, & how long your willing to wait & save. Also, the cost of living here varies between the states. Im from South Australia & its a nice, quiet & an affordable place to live, & its home of the bigger 'top gun' Skylines in Australia.

Have you considered your other options in the Skyline range, like the R34 GT-t or R33 GTR V-Spec?

Cheers

I think the best way is to look when I'm there. The thing is that the car is so rare here now don't laugh at this guys but I'm not even sure what models you get.

I know there is a Twin Turbo version which is the GTR and then the N/A 3.2 L which I'm not sure what its called.

Who on the OOC be driving the R34 GTR? Man its wierd asking all these questions man couse here in SA its just the super rich that drive the GTR man. You might compare the GTR to a Ferrari Mondeo or a GT2 porche here guys thats how rare the car is.

I mean whats me chances of talking to a rich kid about his cabby. Nothing.

Guys thanks for the replys. Just one more question. What is the fastest one and the strongest one you guys got on this forum. I checked our local performence magazine actually found one here in SA that they featured last month.

Most of the performence parts are HKS. Which I presume is the best. It puts out about 650HP. Which me thinks its a lot. Is it true that you can mode a Skyline to put out 600HP without doing any engine mods?

yes that is correct. The engine can handle 700-800 hp on standard internals. You still have to do mods to get it there. R34 GTR's are rare over here too. It's not like everyone has one. I have seen two...ever.

Not that I get out much but you get the idea.

You will need a steady job earning you around 600 per week to own and properly maintain one in Brisbane. That would include insurance and servicing and tyres and all that crap.

Being an R34 it won't need very much in the way of repairs for some years but if you look after it, it will last a long time.

Maybe you should start off small by buying an R34 GT-t first, getting the feel of the car, and then trading up onto the GTR. It would suck if you pranged your first Skyline and it was a 34 GTR. They are an easy car to drive and handle unbelievably but they are easy to be silly in also, so be careful.

Some wise words there buddy. I think that sounds like a good idea to go for a R34 GT-t first since the car I drive here has got an engine about the size of a lawn mower. LOL

Maybe it has been done but im yet too see/hear of one, i would class decompressing as an engine mod. Not having a go, but i havent seen many last very long making 1/2 that on standard internals with all the proper precautions taken.

I've heard of many cars making this sort of power, but that doesnt detract from the fact that its probably far from "safe". At the end of the day a standard engine producing that sort of power...rb26 or not cannot be "safe", if it were a 2jz or something of the like I may be more inclined to say that it could handle it but I havent seen many 26's producing that on standard internals. It's a lot of power, and dare I say if you have enough money to produce it, you'd usually throw in forgies as a precaution anyway.

btw: I'm not having a go or stating I know all, just saying what I know/have seen and heard.

Matt

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
