ricknismo
what makes iritops worth so much more that iridiums in the NGK range. I have a mate in the business and found 1.1mm BCPR6EIX-11 worth about $20 retail and IRITOP 7 (5601) worth about $40 retail... Fair enough the gap is 1.1mm versus 0.8mm but that ain't worth $120 a set more. Told iritops are for race application...but what does that mean??? Anyone know the diff? GTRgeoff
Can't help on the Iritops but I have to say that the specialised plugs cost a lot and don't do justice to a highly tuned engine, so I stick with coppers in the 7 heat range and pay $20 a set. Also the fact that the special coating can easily be breached by regapping to obtain a 0.7 - 0.8mm gap makes them worthless to me. I simply check the gap before each race meeting and it takes about 20 min with the cover left off. GTR is of course a lot easier to service the plugs in standard config.
