Hi guys

My clutch is on its way out and i need the part numbers of a new clutch as i might be able to get them through work. I was looking to get an extra heavy duty or super heavy duty exedy single plate to fit an r33 gtst hopefully putting out about 200rwkw after the new clutch is installed. Feel free to offer alternative clutches as i am not just looking a exedy ones. Thanks guys :)

Hi thanks for the reply. The car is a 1995 series 1.5 (series 2 motor). Have done a few searches and alot of people seem to pretty happy with their different brands of clutches just from what i read exedy seem to be good.

is it a series 1 r33? if so check out nissan patrol cluthces, theres a few theads in the howto faq area, do a search. should be cheap and hold lots of power

if it was my car and i was able to fit a partol clutch it would in a flash. its heavy duty, direct fit and its easily available at your local cap parts workshop. unforuntately it doesnt suit the series 2 as they have different clutch, im sure series 1 is push whereas series 2 is pull and patrol suits the series 1 only. theres a few threads on it, do a search. forget the nice brans if a patrol heavy duty one fits

Yeah had a read im guessing they should be able to hold 200rwkw. Yeah not to sure if it will fit mine cos im just assuming if its series2 engine then it would be series 2 clutch? Is there a way to tell (keep in mind i dont know to much about clutches). What price are lookng at for the patrols clutch under $200? I'll definately look into it if they fit as im not really pushing the power envelope. :)

If going only to 200rwkw I wouldn't go too heavy duty.

My stock clutch started slipping at 209 rwkw only because it'd done 90000 klms - the clutch plate was just totally worn out. I'd say that's the same with 90% of the r33's around with stock slipping clutches.

The stock one should handle 200 at the tyres no worries unless you go silly.

The exedy one I put in is great, although quite heavy (must be a woose) and I'll say unless looking for around the 250rwkw mark it's not an issue.

It was pretty pricey too at 580 dollars.

Cheers

The stock clutch is good for 200rwkw. Anyone else have a stock clutch that is coping well with that. There is probably a good chance that stock one is worn cos it done 84000 on the clock but god knows how many its really done. Im still thinking about going for a heavy duty cos if i can get it cheap i also know someone who can install cheap as well so it might not be to pricey to have a H/D. :D

Recommending retaining a standard clutch for 200rwkw is not a smart idea.

If going to the expense of replacing your clutch, you should be fitting a clutch that will hold more power than you plan to make, leaving you with plenty of potential left should you modify your car further.

Hi, My clutch is slipping and needs replacing. I'm wondering about the patrol clutch mentioned and just wanted to know if there was a specific patrol clutch that fits...

Which model, year, etc...

Thanks for any help

I just bought a heavy duty excedy clutch for my 95 GTST for $550, its great and does the job. I'm running around 190-200rwkw and was told they should handle 250rwkw.

If anyone needs to do their spigot bush & rear main seal I have a brand new set at home, if someone whats to buy them off me when they do their clutch. Just PM me. I think I paid around $85 for both

Hey you dont have the part number from off the box or anything like that do you. Was it 550 for clutch alone or was that installed as well. :P

I'll try and remember to get the part number tonight for ya.

It was $550 trade price just for the clutch. I installed it myself, so it cost me nothing. Its usually around $600 installation, so it would have been $1150.

Just remembered it cost me $40 to get the fly wheel machined as well.

    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
