Dear friends

I need some advice regarding the HKS GT2530 turbo.

My current setup is as follows---

fuel system: Stock fuel pump

Stock injectors

Stock fuel pressure regulator

Splitfire coils

Platinum spark plugs regapped at 0.9mm

Induction: Stock afm

HKS airpod

600x300x100 FMIC

GFB bleed valve (at stock boost)

Drivetrain: Xtreme heavy duty clutch

exhaust system: HKS 3' dump pipe and front pipe

3' high flow cat

5Zigen 3' cat back with 5' muffler tip

Engine management: Stock ECU

I am currently on a tight budget. However, I previously bought a HKS 2530 kit with actuator and have it lying around in my room. I have been itching to bolt it on my car.

In about 3 months time when I will have the money, I am planning to install a Z32 afm, GTR fuel pump, Greddy Profec B spec 2 boost controller, Apexi Power FC.

The thing is......NOW, I want to install the turbo so i will not have it lying around and taking up space. i can then sell my stock turbo to make some cash. However, this turbo install will be done without the power FC ,Z32, boost control, fuel pump and fpr. I will then be running stock boost on the HKS turbo for 3 months till I can upgrade the rest.

Tell me what you think......will it work out.....Really need advice!

get the powerfc, z32, fuel pump, afm, boost controller (a real one) at the same time

it will cost you more to keep going back and getting it tuned and fitted each time

the gt2530 is pretty small and your paying for the hks brand label. you could get a bigger garrett for similar price. also stock clutch will be useless for a 2530, slip city. the stock clutch is average aroudn 200rwkw which you should crank with the 2530. the 2530 and the hks 25 series have been superceeded by the new hks pro range such as the hks gt-ss and hks gt-rs if you wanna stay with hks label. hks gt-rs on rb25 should net you around 260rwkw fuilly tuned. but youll need injectors as well. stock injectors start maxing out about 180rwkw. then it becomes unsafe. having said that answer your original question

turbo is generally the last thing to upgrade as all the stock components get maxed out as soon as you go over the stock turbo power levels

what size exhaust is it? hiflow cat? do u have a 3" dump and front pipe? by turboback i hope you mean dump/front 3" hiflow cat 3" and then 3" from there onwards. 2530 will bolt on to your stock stuff and you can swap actuators so minimum boost is 0.50bar. however your fuel pump, afm, injectors, clutch etc will be at their max capcity.

you can do this, look into hks-gtrs or a garrest gt28 (thats what the gt-rs is but without the hks price and label attached).

opps for got to mention....I do have an Xtreme heavy duty clutch. And Yes my exhaust is a 5Zigen 3 inch catback, with 3 inch high flow cat, 3inch HKS frontpipe and dump pipe and 5' muffler tip(for the look :D ) .

I have seen peopel on this forum managing 220 rwkw with the HKS 2530 with stock injectors. So i think it should be ok.

I actually have a GTR fuel pump and Z32 afm lying around in my room. However, i thought that these should only be used CONCURRENTLY with a power FC as the stock ECU will not be able to manage these.

Can someone please advice.

Just upgrade your fuel pump and you could still pump out some decent figures even without z32 afm, injectors, or PFC. Your current setup plus fuel pump should get you over 230rwkw without any hassles.

Hang on there.....That means installing a HKS 2530 with fuel pump and without the power FC???

YES, 2530 + GTR fuel pump + Nismo bolt on fuel pressure regulator (Nengun $150) = OK.

BUT (there is always a but), check it carefully on the dyno, adjust the fuel pressure to keep the A/F ratios OK and listen for any knock. Adjust the boost and the base ignition timing (with the CAS) to achieve the best COMPROMISE.

DON'T bolt it on and go for a thrash.

Please post up the results, to prove it works.:)

    • Hi all, Long time since I've posted here. Looking for some advice on what I can remove to further identify the cause of my issues.  I can move the passenger seat forward and back but the knob used to adjust the seat angle is pretty much free spinning, there's very little resistance.  Removing the side cover I can see that the chain is intact but the shaft for the adjustment spins without the gear attached to it moving.  What's my next step for disassembly here? Is this a common fault? Just being a little cautious as I didn't want to start removing bolts for a spring to fly out or something equally as stupid.  Cheers
    • Those above shitboxes, mediocre and above usually have a turbo strapped to them, hence the slightly higher octane is required.  
    • Hi all,   long time listener, first time caller   i was wondering if anyone can help me identify a transistor on the climate control unit board that decided to fry itself   I've circled it in the attached photo   any help would be appreciated
    • I mean, I got two VASS engineers to refuse to cert my own coilovers stating those very laws. Appendix B makes it pretty clear what it considers 'Variable Suspension' to be. In my lived experience they can't certify something that isn't actually in the list as something that requires certification. In the VASS engineering checklist they have to complete (LS3/NCOP11) and sign on there is nothing there. All the references inside NCOP11 state that if it's variable by the driver that height needs to maintain 100mm while the car is in motion. It states the car is lowered lowering blocks and other types of things are acceptable. Dialling out a shock is about as 'user adjustable' as changing any other suspension component lol. I wanted to have it signed off to dissuade HWP and RWC testers to state the suspension is legal to avoid having this discussion with them. The real problem is that Police and RWC/Pink/Blue slip people will say it needs engineering, and the engineers will state it doesn't need engineering. It is hugely irritating when aforementioned people get all "i know the rules mate feck off" when they don't, and the actual engineers are pleasant as all hell and do know the rules. Cars failing RWC for things that aren't listed in the RWC requirements is another thing here entirely!
    • I don't. I mean, mine's not a GTR, but it is a 32 with a lot of GTR stuff on it. But regardless, I typically buy from local suppliers. Getting stuff from Japan is seldom worth the pain. Buying from RHDJapan usually ends up in the final total of your basket being about double what you thought it would be, after all the bullshit fees and such are added on.
