That's what i'm trying to get across - pay a little bit more from the pocket in the beginning and get so much more back. Good insurance companies will not apply an excess or deduct any of your no claim bonus if you have details of the third party (who was at fault).

Just don't get caught out guys. :)

Actually all the "insurance" threads never usually have a survey of people's age/value/ncb details in it.

Cool thread man

Ps 22/Maximum NCB, $27k Insured, about $1200/year :)

QBE??? I've just went to ask them, and they told me they don't offer insurace service for import's vehicle...and they aren't cheap!!!! I'm trying to full cover my cheap Proton with 2 yrs NCP and they quote me 1100++!!!!! phew...

Anyone got recent prices for insurance on a R34 GTR value or say $50k mark?

I got a 03 350z and I pay $1600 with HBF 'full com'

insured value of $37k

i'm with justcars:

driving history: have made 1 at fault claim with in last 3 years, few speeding fines, no lost of license.

age: 29

car: r34 gtr v-spec

mods: 19" GTC rims, exhaust, full genuine nismo body kit, minor mods

security: multilayered eg, alarm/kill switch/imobilizer/steering wheel lock/lock up garage with electronic front gate

location:victoria westside

full comp: $1500 per year

excess: $2500

hope this helps.

with my claim last year justcars was perfect very professional and did all they can to get me back on the road but it did take ages to get parts from Japan (nismo stuff), note with justcars it's NOT choice of repairer. if you claim they tow your car to south melbourne (where it gets assesed) and have it taken to 1 of their repairers (normally the most complete and cheapest).

    • They are under bucket shims. Tomei provides a test shim kit and then any measurement of shim required.
    • I always wondered how you were supposed to buy a set of 24 buckets and somehow magically have every single one of them yield exactly the desired clearance. I would have thought you'd need to assemble a cam with either 12 "sample" or "example" buckets of known top thickness (or a single such sample/example 12 times over!!) measure clearances at every valve, and then do the usual math to work out what the actual "shimness" of each bucket needed to be, before buying the required buckets to make up he thicknesses that you didn't have on hand.
    • I now seem to be limited in power due to my rev limit/hydraulic lifters in my built RB25. I'm looking into converting over to Tomei solid lifters. Question for anyone that has done the conversion. I was always under the impression that when using the Tomei solid lifter conversion, you would also require new valves (Longer or shorter stems, I can't remember which).  I don't know where I got this idea, as so far I see no mention of this in any of the Tomei documentation. It just states I need the Tomei solid buckets, solid lifter cams and upgraded springs. As my head is already built, all I would need is another set of 1000$ Kelford cams, 500$ buckets and about 4H hours of my time installing and I'm off to the races!?!? There's no way it's that simple, I must be missing something?
