I am having a few problems after installation.

Im finding that when coming onto boost it spikes 2psi over the desired limit and then sits back on the limit its set to..

I.e aiming for 12psi, as it will fullboost to 14psi and then back off to 12psi pretty much immediately after and for the rest of the rev range

My one has no holes in it.

There are no restrictors in the hoses to and from the wastegate and compressor housing.

any idea's guys?

^^ thats kinda just what they do - You'll find that most people using this controller including myself find that boost tapers off toward redline i.e might hit 12 early on very breifly but then slowly tapers off to 10psi by redline. They still hold it pretty well for a $30 item. Any more accurate and you'll need to consider an ebc, which even vary a little bit to.

Can you use this controller to lower the boost as well? i mean is it hard to change the boost level every time as in with an electronic controller? it would be useful for when you might want to drive a bit economically

Also is it stil around $32 delivered? pretty old thread

They're still for sale at that price, i have one and love it, boost snaps on so quick

IMO, you shouldn't need to lower boost ever, if you bought a skyline to save fuel, i know smarter people in pre-school, but if it's really necessary just loosen your foot, drive off boost as much as you can, its not hard.

i just ordered mine as well, now i got to wait :)

hope it works like pple say

btw

do new ones come with hole or without?

Got mine last week, there is a hole.

Should i set mine at 9psi? I have a stock standard S2 Stagea (RB25DET NEO)

REALLY don't want a spike to blow the turbo :D

9 psi even with a spike (these dont spike very much) wont blow your turbo thats deifinately a safe level. Inlet temps might ^ a bit with the stock cooler but should be fine.

He must have gone back to putting the hole in, cos when i bought mine at the start of the year it had no hole and i had to drill it in.

Cheers, will do that then.

Can't remember which is better, i think with hole is better for high boost or something like that. Probably much of a muchness really.

Just hooked this up this morning and my oh my, unbelievable how quickly boost starts coming in now. It starts building up from less then 2000rpm! Currently set at 7psi, seems to hold well enough with no spiking. Will try 10psi later. I tried to dial it down to 5psi with no success, boost went more then 7psi everytime i loosened it too much. Must be the spring not reaching the ends and not pushing the ball bearing, resulting in leakage... or something. Not complaining, with boost coming in so early, i reckon you actually save fuel because you require less pedal to the metal :laughing-smiley-014:

Installation was a breeze (S2 Stagea RB25DET Neo) as long as you know which hoses to disconnect.

I'm havin problems with mine fellas, even setting it as far out as possible(keeping tension on the spring), I'm running rediculous boost(my FCD keeps cutting fuel off at about 14/16psi) but I only want to run 12! Any suggestions on what to check? It's connected correctly, thanks.

Edit: Oh yeah I have a 1990 Celica GT4 but I don't think it really makes a difference.

just ordered my Dr Drift was boosting about them on dyno day i went to yesterday how good they are just thought i would order one to replace my blitz unit to see how good they really are.

i know, i hate punctuation too...

how it held boost on the dyno with my rb20 with rb25 turbo with possible wastegate issue:

Bump :)

did you ever screw it right down? Maybe the ball is stuck in its seat.

Yeah I did at one point because a "mechanic" thought it was a bleed valve, but I've popped the ball out of the bottom before I took the play out of the spring and put it back in. I still can't get it to run low boost. :D

    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
    • Thank you so much for the help
    • Yes it is ATF. I quote @Duncan "it takes a good synthentic auto trans fluid like Castrol Transmax Z" It's not a diff. It's a transfer case. Totally different thing. Yes, fluid will come out the sender hole. No you do not really need to drain it. Just pull the old, quickly poke the new, clean up and top up. But realistically, you should probably take the opportunity to change it anyway.
