Got a 14.1 myself.

When the GTR popped it was racing Emma at the time..

Was waiting for them to come back when the announcement was:

"Seems ladies and gentlemen one of the turbo skylines have had a blow and theres oil on the track"

*heart stops*

on reflection was it coz of my lady or the car :) -j/k - *ducks in case*

Smoke was seen coming out of it just b4 the finish..also the fornt right quarter panel was very scuffed. Like it grazed the wall.

Plex was ok tonight pretty warm and the track was average at best.

I got a 13.4 at 109 mph 2.5 60 foot, i still need to learn how to launch with big turbo though.

On the way home i raced this white r33, had a cypher *cough* sticker on it and what seemed like either an external gate or a screamer pipe, pulled pretty hard.

I think i raced a couple of people from here as well...

Yeah, it bogged down on the start but picked itself up and screamed off. Made some bad noises half way down the track and gave off a puff of smoke towards the end of the track. Word through the grapewine is a busted gearbox and engine. The scuff marks on the front bumper were there when it turned up, so not related to the drag run. I have its run on video if anyone here (or from speedworks) is interested in seeing it.

What did it munch before?

I didn't manage to improve my times from last week (13.9 again), same excuses, but I did manage to beat Hicks all night, so it made it worthwhile.

There was a much larger turnout than the week before, lots of Skylines and Commodores, but I don't think anyone was running there best times.

GOT BOOST,

That was a good time, and impressive 60'. Next time I'll have to let you drive my car, so you can improve my cars times. My shitty tyres also get nice and sticky after a bit of thrashing, and they seem to be lasting for ages.

last night was sh!t for me... i couldnt bust past 15.2, 0.6 off my best..., which is 14.6 and ive gotten that every time ive been down this season (3 times), slower terminal speed too.

God knows whats happened to the car after compliance..

I had brand new S03's on there expecting to cut maybe a few tenths off my time as the RE710's had gone hard, but no luck...

slippery track? headwind?

i dunno..

had a mate down there with his v8 and he was also 0.6 behind his times the last time we went down a few weeks back and he had some head work done to his car. He was also pissed. :)

ODD.

ahh well. at least itll blow anything away around a corner :D

It would be great if I could take 0.6seconds off my time, it would be quite respectable then.

I asked the officials last night about having a red light run. They said that it doesn't affect the ET, therefore Macka's time of 12.98 stands, but becuase it wasn't a legal run then will not be accepted officially.

was a good turnout, got 10 runs.

Although im not happy with my times, i improved my driving ability throughout the night, best was a 14.05 with a 2.2 60'.

Gotta perfect the launch, get a dump, get a clutch, and try again.

I agree with GOT BOOST, simex tyres are the stickiest ive ever had.

That blown LS1 was only able to pull a flat 13.

It looked like the track was a little more slippery than usual. Quite a few people I spoke with were running a tad slower than their normal times.. There's a few events over chrissy so they'll prep the track up nicely and when it starts up again early next year, it should make for some quicker times..

maybe...

which blown ls1 would that be? :)

also mph's would be handy if ya post times, as in lagwagons case it indicates a very reall 12 second potential there(altho.. big turbo lag mite prevent that atm).

As for the gt-r going pop.. hopefully that'll stop the whiney sooks always complaining about the "trevs" breaking down on track HAHA :)

    • Maybe? I have the Supercheap ToolPro low thingo. It has a somewhat smaller diameter lifting "bowl" than you would expect on a workshop grade trolley jack, and a split rubber pad to suit that diameter. It clears the "N1" style skirts I have. Probably wouldn't if the jack's bowl and a suitably larger rubber block were in use. Having said that though.....you only need the rubber block to exist on the inner side of the pinchweld, so could carve away any rubber that fouled the skirt, leaving some there for "insurance" </simples>
    • I used to do that (sills with rubber jack block).. ... then I got side skirts, and there's no way for the jack to actually work there, the jack pad itself on the jack is too big. Is the answer to use a... smaller (?) jack? Hmmm.
    • I have too much trauma from every skyline I've ever seen having crushed jack points/pinch welds lol.    Yep, works 100%, it's what I use when I'm using the quick jack. Don't know why I can't also bring myself to do the same thing when I'm using a jack. I blame the skyline PTSD.
    • The pinchweld is fine, even with a trolley jack, so long as you're not actually pushing on the pinchweld itself. More to the point, we shouldn't talk about lifting or supporting on the pinchweld, we should talk about using the sill "jacking points", which just happen to be adjacent to the pinchweld. I just have dense rubber blocks with grooves in them for each of the chassis stands and the trolley jack, that I use at the sill jacking points if/when I have to lift/support there. They put all the load onto the steel pad of the jacking point and not the pinchweld. As intended.
    • Makes sense.  I would do something different if I felt like there was a better option. Generally the only other area I'm happy to jack on is where I want to put the stand. The pinch weld is not an option for me for either the jack or stands, so very limited options overall.  Plus never having had an issue with doing this, has kinda reinforced in my mind that it's fine. I'd do it on any car without a second thought these days lol.
