Sydneysiders,

I want to buy some Bridgestone RE55 SP compound tyres for some track days and supersprints. Can anyone recommend the cheapest place in Sydney to get 'em.

I've heard that if you are a member of car club and have a cams licence you can get special prices.

I am a member of a car club and have a L2S licence.

Thanx

Gordin Levin Motorsport at Penrith are the Distrubitors for Bridgestone RE55's Tyres. If you are a member of the Skyline's Australia NSW Branch you will be entitled to discount. They are sponsors of the club.

Hope the offer still stands but i only need 2 X 235/45/17 as my rears need to be 275/40/17.

I'm about to put my mkiv supra on the track.

$1100/4=$275. Any damage at all? Are they the SP's?

Are they in Sydney as i may aswell buy new, as the freight from Melbourne will make them the same price.

I got a price here in Sydney, $321 new, does that sound right?

Thanx geeman

$321 new for 235/45/17 sounds like it spossible, though its cheaper then the palces i checked with when i was in Sydney in May. (Levin/Garys for D01Js etc) If thats the price for the 275s then thats a steal.:(

Another place to try may be Donellans tyres in Box Hill, Vic. It only costs about $60 to get 4 x tyres from Melb to Sydney

$321 was for the 235's.

I've heard Donellans is good, i'll give them a call tomorrow if they're open.

Thanx for your help, muc appreciated, i'll let you know how i go, who's cheaper etc.

I had a friend ring bridgestone yesterday and they said that the re55s are no longer in production we asked to be put on to technical to ask for replacement but they must have been at lunch no one answered

What would be equivilent (spelling) to the re55s in other brands??

Hi Matt, I find it hard to believe that the RE55s are out of production, give Gordon Levin Tyres at Penrith a ring, last time i was there they had heaps of stock. The equivalent is Dunlop Do2 tyres or Yokahama do a R compound tyre as well.

Ken

Re540 went out of production about 2 years ago but the Re55s are their replacement....I would expect them to be around for at least another 3 years, and even then you can be certain they will replace them with something better :D

i went through dave who rang bridgestone so dont know what the go is but thats what the lady at customer service said maybe she is ill informed and just could not find the listing then just said that they dont make them??

Matt, Levin's want around $380 for 235.45.17.. I think Donnellans in Melbourne are a bit cheaper even including transport.

I finally got my RE55's.

Got 'em from Donnellans at Box Hill, Victoria, they were $100 cheaper than Gordon Levins in Penrith AFTER adding freight and fitting.

If you live in Sydney and want to compare prices i would definitely give Donnellans a call, they were awesome, I spoke to Paul. :P

    • Yeah in that case, pulling the dent out. Event a very slight dent can create a lot of work filler-wise and there is a strong chance the panel won't be the factory shape when you are done (as the dent will result in a new high point created somewhere, then everything is brought up to that new high point... but the panel shouldn't be that high if that makes sense).  So you've filled and primed the panel and it is flat, why would you go back and remove the primer and add more filler?
    • Something else I have been faffing with while the car was off the road is making the AC work. Assuming the car isn't at a thermal limit the idea of having AC while waiting in line to go on track sounds delightful. I have actually been lugging around the weight of the entire system since 2018 when the RB25NEO went in without it working at all.  The main reason was in the first few events before I got around to re-gassing it the rubber hose that runs under the manifold had the factory heat wrap/sleeve fail resulting in this: ~2 years ago I purchased a complete used R32 AC line set but when I finally went to install it the line i needed was different where the expansion section is I found a local place that was able to replace the rubber section and re-crimp. They also added some modern heat sleeve to the hose Tight fit but fingers crossed this is the last physical piece of the puzzle needed
    • the top black section is bonded to the silver section with some form of rubber. I assume to isolated NVH from the box
    • Plan B? Get someone to machine up a metal bush/collar/whatever it needs to be to replace the rubber? I haven't had a close look at that part recently to have a proper feel for whether that's possible. But it might be easy.
    • I do not want to install a short shifter and the only other stock throw shifter I have seen is the Nismo "Rigid shifter" for $290 So plan A is to fill it with sikaflex to stiffen it up and hope for the best
