Just did this yesterday as Ive done on a few NA cars.

Bottle of Redex injector treatment, pull vacuum hose. Rev car to 3k rpm and place vacuum hose in bottle and regulate flow.

This burns the carbon off pistons, valves etc. Car blew out smoke for a while as it should. I only did a small dose on it and the little pinging that it had before is gone.

But I just thought with the turbo in the way of the exhaust is this not a really good thing to do. I guess all the carbon should have burnt and just turned into smoke before it hits the turbo. Any thoughts. Car is fine and feels good - just wondering if this method is no no for turbo car.

ive done it to my 33, no dramas.

we do it all the time at work... it wont hurt the engine, as it introducing more hydrocarbons, making it run richer... the white smoke is unburnt hydrocarbons...

its good stuff.

cheers

Linton

Thanks mate - thought it should be ok but the reassurance is good. Right, so the smoke is only from introducing more combustables for a given air supply causing more unburnt HC to exit the exhaust as there isn't enough obxygen there to complete combustion. Smoked for a while as I left the house to take it for a drive. People must have thought what a bomb!

I thought some of the white fumes etc was the carbon. Or is the carbon just going to flake off..not really sure but the car feels better.

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
