i know its been covered in other threads but i need to know for sure....

as topic says, i got a gtr rear swaybar and it was too short as Jash from c-red mentioned and someone else, but SK says he fitted a gtr bar no problems?

so what whiteline bars will fit front and rear as i know for sure gtr ones DONT?

cheers

This is a picture of the boxes that the Whiteline stabiliser bars were in, showing the part numbers.

WhitelineBarsPartscopy.jpg

They are R33GTR stabiliser bars, the R32GTR rear stabiliser bar (BNR26) won't fit. I had absolutely no problems fitting the front stabiliser bar, but the rear was a bit tricky. The standard bar is several mm smaller in OD than the Whiteline bar. So the critical measurement was the INSIDE of the U bend, as per the following photo;

Std_Vs_Whiteline_Rear_Bar_Marked.jpg

I have seen a couple of Whiteline GTR bars where the OUTSIDE of the U bend is the same as the standard bar. This means the inside of the U bend is 10 mm or so too close together. This means you can't do up the bolts on the D brackets.

If that is the case with your bar then send it back to Whiteline, tell them how much it is too narrow across the U bend and they will replace it.

:)

cheers sk, so r33 gtr front and rears fit no problems yeah? is there any other additions to the suspension that is worth lookin at from whiteline? im getting tein coilovers, and the whiteline swaybars so far... so what else?

cheers

Hi Brad, I really liked the extra caster using the KCA332 adjustable bushes. Made a huge difference to the handling and steering response. Plus it took away that vague feeling around centre and added a bit of feel to the steering. The standard front rubber bushes where a bit worn on ours and it also removed a little shake, shake, shake going over bumps.

I didn't lower ours very much (25 mm front and 10 mm rear) so I didn't need any camber correction. The front ended up a nice 0.5 degree negative and I adjusted the rear using the standard adjuster.

It's all in the Stagea Suspension thread.:)

Well

I fitted my GTR sway bars yesterday and they make a big difference.

The only thing that i noticed was that YES, the sway bar is a little too short.

But the links on the end for me just bend out to counter that... meaning my rear sway bar looks like this

______/ instead of what my mates s14 looks like |_______|

If that bad, do i need to remove it and get another bar?

First two are right side, bottom one is left side...

img22106jy.jpg

Seems a little extreme for me, but it still works fine....

If i move the bar like, 5mm to the left, it would even the bends out to be almost identical/perfect...

But, if i need a new sway bar... what a bitch of a job...already waited two weeks for them both..

****EDIT****

Car was sitting on the side of the road there, leaning to the left hand side, on flat ground the two things point about the same angle... anyway, should i look to replacE?

sk?

isnt there a straight fit stagea one rather than the gtr one, as it obviously doesnt quite fit right ?

cheers

Brad

Hi Brad, I used the part numbers in the previous post and they fit perfectly. If you get one that doesn't fit perfectly, it is a manufacturing fault (it does happen). Measure up how much it is out and then send it back. Whiteline will replace anything that isn't spot on for specification. :P

    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
    • Actually, I'd say all three are the automatic option. Just the different trim levels. The manual would be RSFS, no?
