Hey guys

Just wondering if anyone has a full suspension kit from whiteline on there skyline ?

Im looking at getting the $2k 'works' package but I have no clue about anything suspension related realy. I believe you get everything you need with the kit but is it all worth it?, Would I be better off spending the 2k elsewhere ?? (besides the dictionary shop  )

From what i've seen of whiteline there pretty good, but comments from anyone who's got the full kit would be gr8.

thanks

For Datsun 1600's the whitline kits are on the money! :(

However, I have not heard much about whiteline kits for skylines. So I'm neither going to bag it nor am I going to say it's good.

The jap brands out there are pretty damn good! I have seen HKS hypermax kits go for around $1500 on these forums. I think this is a pretty good buy for a set of suspension that is touted as being one of the best drag suspensions going around.

Maybe you should get a price on a good set of jap suspension eg. Tein, HKS, APEXI to name a few and then make your decision.

But make sure you do the research. Ask around, as there are a few cluey guys here that might be able to help you.

Let's see, I have a full Whiteline kit on the Stagea, and one on the race R32GTST and one on the R34GTT. Plus we have one on the Prelude and the Integra. They are all great, everyone who rides in any of the cars comments on how well they handle and still ride nicely. That's on the road and on the track.

Maybe you should get a price on a good set of jap suspension eg. Tein, HKS, APEXI to name a few and then make your decision.

You can not compare a set of Jap brand name springs and shocks with a FULL suspension kit. None of those named above have stabiliser bars in the kit, or alignment bushes, camber/caster adjustment, subframe alignement bushes etc. The Japs try to do EVERYTHING with spring and shock rate, which is both simplistic and rather silly for Australian conditions.

Need more info? Do a search on Whiteline and Bilstein shocks (that's what shocks they use in the Skyline kits).

:(

PS; The search button is your best friend

well that confirms it then, whiteline kit it is!

thanks :)

One other quick question, i was reading in some other posts you get the 'low' or 'super low' springs or something with the kits ?

I called up some whiteline distributors they didnt know what I was on about. Is this the case ? Id be looking at getting the 'low' ones if it is, i just dont want to order the wrong thing.

  • 2 weeks later...

my mate just had the whiteline works pack installed in his 33 gtst... the ride is firm but does not 'crash' into potholes or jump and skip over rough surfaces...

and the cornering? my mate put it best when he said 'it will now corner much faster/better than I can drive'

so yeah just get the whiteline kit and be done with it... i am saving up!

  • 1 year later...

would the whiteline "works" package be suitable for drag? For GTT with appropiate settings and nitto drag extreme tyres. Will be running to4z with fully built engine and all the fruit to go...aiming for 450rwkw....is it possible to get any type of traction or just to much power?

    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
