Hi,

I am planning on upgrading rb25det turbo to a GT30 hybrid, the hpInABox one (has a machined nissan zaust housing) I have all the supporting mods except injectors and Z32 AFM. I am hoping for around 250rwkw.

1st question is there anything I should be aware of when removing the current turbo and replacing it with the gt30. I will have all the water & oil lines and the spacer required in between the turbo and manifold??

2nd question is what injectors should I go for. At the moment I am thinking of either HKS or Nismo 555cc ones which will cost about $900. But you can get 740cc for slightly more, should I get the bigger ones seeing to price difference is only about $100???

Last Question, there is another member on this forum who has made 260rwkw with this setup but did it running 20psi. Is 20psi of boost too much for stock internals on a rb25det?

turbo - if you have all the swapover bits then it will be fine.

Just need a new dump and I/C intake piping made up to suit i'd say.

are you using a PowerFC?

if so get the nismo 740's IMO. For about $20-$40 difference you might aswell just incase you want more power in future.

I think the 555 nismo are the RB26 items... but then someone else said they are making em too... but i couldnt find anyone stocking 555 for the RB25 about a year ago.

No such thing as too much boost really... As long as it isnt knocking it should perfect internals wise.

Not sure how the headgasket will holdup @ that much.

Although i havent heard of it being a problem ... and i think INASNT has a stock headgasket.. send him a PM to find out.

dont forget that the bigger the injectors the more hassles you'll have at idle...

i just put SARD 550cc inj in my rb25. diret fit and and these can handle over 330rwkw without an adjustable Fuel pressure regulator.. so uless you plan to go over that... i'd use the smaller ones just for ease of idle quality.

Sards work and are cheap but have been known to have a poor spray pattern. Idle quality and fuel economy will suffer as a result.

Their twin-hole injectors may be better, I haven't heard much about them as of yet.

Nismo and HKS are always a safe bet.

Sard injectors are cheap, but still have to buy the collars to support them in your car and they are around $250 mark so in the end the the nismo injects would cost the same and have less hassles to bolt into the car!....I will be ordering HKS or nismo injectors around the 550cc size!

incorrect, plain and simple.

If your tuner cant get 740's to idle like stock ones with a PowerFC then its time for a new tuner

thanks again guys, a couple more q's:

1)Anything else that I need when buying new injectors, like washers etc???

2)After I install the z32 AFM, do I select "super intake" in the PFC options or is it the other option for z32??

3)What/where do I make the injector correction for 740cc or 555cc injectors in the PFC?

I am asking these questions cause I need to make sure that the car will travel to sydney from canberra after the installations... At this point I am looking at putting the Z32 on, the GT30 hybrid and leave the injectors to the tuner.

Is there a reason why you have a spacer? Is the turbo physically too large to fit, or is there a difference in the flange pattern?

I'm doing this and the reason you need the spaceer is because ht compressor cover hits the exhaust manifold when you rotate it to fit. It is also a little close and will mst likely draw in alot of heat.

also, its handy to make the rest of the plumbing fit.

GT30's are hard to low mount, but do-able.

I am going to go a slightly different way of making similiar power.

I am going to use the slightly larger VG30 turbine housing, have it machined and bolt it up to a 700382-12 CHRA.

The 700382-12 CHRA is the new gen GT30 comp wheel, it runs the .6 comp cover so it 'shouldn't need a spacer.

The stock RB turbine housing is a tad small, consider grabbing your self either a VG30 turbine housing or VLT.

However, the VLT turbine housing will require a new dump pipe but they are much easier to get a hold of.

With the above setup you will crack 270rwkw easily and possibly even push very close to 300rwkw if not over with a set of cams.
