Hey, im reading this form at the moment and it's saying stuff like...

'to fully appreciate many different aspects of japan it is required that the working holiday applicant moves to different areas within japan at approximately 3month intervals.'

W T F

does that mean i will have to find a new apartment every 3 months? that would completely suck ass.

But then again, move to different areas within japan could mean spending a night in osaka or going on a day trip to another prefecture or something.

Anyone here on a working holiday visa that can comment on this?

I'm going to ring the consulate in the morning but i want to double check this.

Don't get too worried... they just say that to appease the 'working holiday ethics'. Of course NO ONE moves around in 3 month intervals! It's just saying that *in the spirit* of the working holiday visa, people are 'obligated' to move around Japan and see the country, rather than get all hooked up in one city then start doing illegal stuff ie: working fulltime :rolleyes:, having sex :D, drinking too much ;), being disorderly ;)... you get the drift.

Hey mate. I am currently living in Tokyo and came here a bit over 3 months ago on a working holiday visa. Like Rezz was saying, no one actually moves around every 3 months, that is a little unrealistic. That sort of stuff is just written there really for the sake of it (to make immigation seem like they are doing a good job) and unless you did something kinda messed up over here you will be right living in the same place the whole time. With that said however, I reckon that if you got into trouble for something else over here, they would then use it to ream you up the ass even further.

My main advice for comming over here man is to make sure you have a healthy bank account before comming. I have blown well well over 10K since getting here just on living expences so just be aware of that.

As for work, if you have a university degree it will be a piece of cake. With a degree and 1-2 years of relevant experience I know of jobs that will pay anything between 60k-150k in the first year. You really just have to be very motivated and start knocking on doors as soon as you arrive. Do you have a degree? What kind of work experience backround do you have? What are your Japanese skills like?

In all honesty, if you don`t have a degree will be an uphill battle, but not impossible. It will reallly depend on your personality.

Actually getting back to the visa situation, if you get a (career type) job (which you will need a degree for) you wont even have to worry about the visa thing because most companies will be able to sponsor you anyway with a relevant working visa. That is what is happening with me anyway.

If you have any questions, don`t hesitate to PM me. Whether you are going to be able to survive here or not really will depend on you. Despite what a lot of people think it is a very tough environment here (in Tokyo) especially if you are chasing carreer goals and not just a good time.

      I refreshed the OEM injectors with the kit and connected it up. It now ideals okay even with the IACV removed. Driving still has the same cutoff issue like the 550cc injectors so the issue is somewhere else. I bought FPG's Fuel Pump Hanger. I will be installing it next, but it is not as straightforward as I thought it was with my limited wiring knowledge and no instruction on the specific model I purchased (FPG-089). I also got the incorrect billet clamp as I could not find info on the OEM sizing.

      No. Turbo shuffle and surge/flutter are not the same thing. Specifically, on a GTR, turbo shuffle has a definite meaning. On a GTR, the twin turbos are assumed to be the same thing and to operate the same way, exactly. In reality, they do not. Their exhaust sides are fed and exhaust a little differently, to each other. Their inlet sides are fed and exhausted a little differently, to each other. Consequently, when they are "working" they are often at slightly different points on the compressor map compared to each other. What this means, particularly when coming on boost, is that one of them will spool up and start producing extra flow compared to the other, which will put back pressure on that other compressor, which will push the operating point on that other compressor up (vertically). This will generally result in it bumping up against the surge line on the map, but even if it doesn't, it upsets the compressor and you get this surging shuffle back and forth between them That is "turbo shuffle" on a GTR. It is related to other flutter effects heard on other turbo systems, but it is a particular feature of the somewhat crappy outlet piping arrangement on RB26s. There are plenty of mods that have been attempted with varying levels of success. People have ground out and/or welded more material into the twin turbo pipe to try to prevent it. Extending the divider inside it works, removing material doesn't. There are aftermarket replacement twin turbo pipes available, and these exist pretty mush purely because of this shuffle problem.

      You can temporarily* use lock collars to keep it in place until you can do the bushes, back the nuts off, slide them in, snug back up. *temporarily is often for ever

      Thanks for the quick reply. To be clear, when you say turbo shuffle do you mean turbo flutter "stustustu" or referring to something else? I had thought they were the same thing. When I wrote the post my intention was to say it wasn't a flutter/compression surge sound. My understanding was that a flutter sound would be occurring when throttle is released, whereas I can keep the throttle in the same position for this noise
