Hey guys,

I've got a bogstock r33 S1. No FMIC, no xhaust, no pod......Stock as factory....rare huh?

I've been reading the forums and did a few searches on the subject so its not just an off the cuff question, thought has gone in to this.

Anywayz i want to purchase one of these turbotech boost controllers and up the boost to 10psi. I'm under the impression that the ECU will adapt to this so long as i don't go over 10psi. Correct me if i'm wrong there. No carbon build up / det. etc.???

Will there be any damage to anything under the hood if i install this and up the boost?

Will this provide a noticably bigger difference in spool up, e.g. would it be on boost almost straight away?

Will 10psi make a huge difference, i.e. put my head back in the seat when i nail it?

No problem running 10PSI but, most likely, you'll need to regap your spark plugs down to 0.8mm.  Would also be nice to do an ECU reset.

Ummm sorry, pretty new to mechanical work.....What does that mean?? does that mean get new spark plugs and get my ecu tuned?? Doesn't that cost like up to a grand?? No complaining just asking.

Cheers

Matt

Your profile says RB20E........I don't think it will make any difference which boost controller or "how much" you wind up the boost....you aren't going to notice ANY difference

Seriously though......regapping the plugs is simply a matter of removing the plugs and regapping the electrodes to .8mm

ECU reset can be done by either shorting 2 of the terminals on the consult port (do a search) or by removing the battery and draining any remaining charge in the car by pumping the brake pedal, then replace the battery and the ECU should be reset. I prefer the consult port method personally.

Okie Dokie

So get someone with one of those spacer pocket knife lookin things and get the spark plugs regapped. Then reset the ecu and all should run fine.

Can i safely up the boost to 12psi then, seeing as that's the limit for the stock turbo?

As for the other questions am i really going to notice it??

cheers

P.S. Tried to change the RB20E thing but can't find where its located on my profile. I actually have a 1200kw twin turbo rb26dett in the shed but the stock r33's faster

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
