A beer is the last thing you'll want after running/walking that far!!!

I've done it 2 years in a row and it's good fun. People along the way hose you down out of they're front yards, there's people having parties alongthe way etc... it's a great atmosphere.

The only problem is getting home after the event as the public transport gets VERY packed out!

Hehe - cool.

I'll try and wear some form of SAU or Team Wang identifying clothing.

Should be easy to spot in the 65,000 other people ;)

How bad is the hill? Steep, or just long?

The hill is more long and winding then steep.

Two tips.

1)

Get a drink at every drink stop, whether you think you need it or not. And make it water NOT[\b] whatever sports drink they're trying to palm off that year. The sugar will only speed up your dehydration whilst your running. Save thos drinks for after.

2)

Stay clear of those idiots spraying you with water from their hoses. They shouldn't be wasting the water for one and the extra weight it adds to you at the end of the race really makes it hard on those last few flat sections. Especially when your shoes and socks are soaked through.

Good luck man.

Thanks all for the tips :)

Kel: Another friend will be in the Prudential corp area, so I'll head that way when I finish. Send me an SMS and I'll join you for a celebratory drink!

If there is one good thing with us getting no rain these days its water restrictions. Normally alot of the people in the house you go by have a hose out. Last year there was not one. So again this year there will be no hoses. So your feet will keep dry.

If you keep your eye out you should be able to get about 4 free beers and 2 glasses of wine along the way. Just look out for house parties.

For the pub crawlers there are 2 pubs on the way and plenty at the finish.

Also look out for the krispy kream donuts at the end.

75mins - wooh!

Thanks for the lovely weather Kel - I really appreciate it :)

Was good fun - that hill is a killer... but I think the worst bit is the little rise as you pass the end of the beach in Bondi. Shall do it again next year - and try to bust 70mins.

Bris: About to head to the airport now :P

Is a superb day here - wish I could stay. How long you up for?

Must be in Melb on the 27th :D

    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
    • Yeah, I would have said the same. It makes me suggest that there are other things wrong, such that the ECU is totally unhappy with the broken sensor. The only other thought here is that maybe it is shorted, which might cause a different issue to the typical "disconnected" sensor.
