Power Steering Rack Rebuild

Just thought people might be interested in that

I have just had my 89 Cefiro steering rack rebuilt will a few small issue but nothing to stop it getting done.

apparently PSK do a rebuild kit for them with their new book that has just come out.

From what the guy that did the kit said the the kit is PSK 535 and is about 95% correct one or two seal are needed aswell.

also I have ordered two Power steering rubbers the ones that hold the rack to the car from Nissan and if anyone is interested the part No.s are

one is Left the other right unsure which is which

a good tip is get ureathane rack mounts, cost around $35 for both apparently make a huge difference but i cant verify this as i havent installed mine yet.

can u put any other sterring arms in from a diffrndent car to get more lock to lock????

a few of my friends have thrown 3mm spacers onto their ends of the tie rods. works a treat but can also bugger the rack up.

another option is steering shaft spacer, aftermarket tie rods and tie rod ends.

Where did you get the rack mounts from as i couldn't find any anywhere only genuine ex japan!!

I have the urethane ones in my R32 (similar rack i assume).. don't think they made a massive difference but my old ones were shagged. My car corners pretty well so its a little hard to tell.

I think they are SuperPro (brand) bushes... the part number is SPF2492K. A fullcrum dealer will be able to get them in for you

If anyone needs a Drivers Side rack bush I have a genuine nissan one spare. Will let it go for $35. I brought 2 thinking they were identical, but theyre not!

i got my urethane ones from option one garage

I was leaking 200ml a day on my driveway was a pretty good indication to me.

Just wondering a bit.. as mine has a bit of vibration at speed from the front steering, and I have narrowed most other things down. Mine doesn't leak though.

wouldn't that just be Alignment?? or even a stuffed ball joint can cause it aswell from what my tyre guy said to me about mine??

possibly.. ball joints look ok.. I had it checked out / aligned by specialists and they didn't say anyhting about the ball joints.. but maybe I should look into that.

I just got my new ball joints from Independant motor mart ( car part place) part No. TE-926+14m/m

apparently the same as a R32 skyline
