Hello all. Im lookin at up grading very shorlty and Im definitly buyin a skyline, my budget is around 26K.

Now this car would be an everyday driving car.

I had my heart set on a GTR but ive heard a lot of bad things with respect to the car being reliable and the costs to fix it if it does go belly up. Thats when the later model R33 was suggested to me

I would just like to get you guys throughts on the issue

I've got a 98 R33 - great car, however goto say if I had a) the money behind me and B) ability to service/repair stuff myself and didn't mind an older car i'd get a 90/91 GT-R..

depends on what your after + if you have things like low kms, lower repair costs, newer car, newer parts than go for the R33 gts25t..

really - drive both and decide what you want.. by the time you've bought a 98 R33 for 21,000 + insurance + other costs it will be about 24k/25k..

rather a gt-r could cost you about 21 - 24k for a decent one + other costs..

anyways - good luck..

i'd love a Gt-r though - ATESSA system, RB26DETT and also lighter.. however i'm happy with mine.. RWD is good as well..

If your worried about cost of maintence and repairs of a GTR then it's already not a good idea.

Well money isnt really an issue, its just the reliablity question, cause the car will be an everyday car i need something that will get me around and not break down everyweek.

Ive heard from someone that deals with GTR's, that all the ones he brings into the country, and even ones already here have been back to the workshop on numerous occasions due to failures. thoughts??

GTRs are well built cars, most of the reliability issues come from the treatment they recieve. If you drove the GTR like you would a magna, then reliability will not be a problem, If you drive it like a GTR can be driven then things breaking can become a problem.

You could even get a R34 NA for that price of maybe even find a cheap turbo model. Newer car, better looking IMO!

there's a black R34 GT-T for $28k in the for sale section! if money isn't an issue, stretch your budget $2k and buy that!

It'll cost more than an extra $2k.. don't forget all the extra on road costs..

a 98 R33 is going to be just as good/well made as a 98 R34..
