ok I am a fan....

will it be the same colour as the outside? and are you going to hide all the wiring loom etc etc ala a race car?

and while the engine is out is it getting the works too :D

You may want to holesaw some air intake holes on the LHS to improve airflow to your airbox or pod set up, has been done on my car ex-japan and seems to make a big difference....

can't wait to see more pics!

ok, the engine bay will be high gloss black (2pak), and the engine and all the other components in the bay will be kinda like anodised blue. I figured if i kept the bay black, the engine will stand out more.

I dont think ill be hiding the wiring, ill neaten them up though, new black tape etc. Ill see what happens when the time comes.

I allready have a hole on the left side, as well as a cold air intake running into it. The windscreen washer bottle is in font of it at the moment, so i can get the car ovr the pits. Once its licenced, ill be moving the bottle into the boot so the pods have a fresh lot of air getting blown in. Ive allready layed (and hidden) the cables from the bay to the boot for the bottle.

ahhhh the memorys of it all...protec do a good phosphate etch primer that i always lay over bare metal before hi filling....you might want to look into it

mate did you take some final pics of when you did this? would like to see the results :P

yeah i wouldnt mind seeing the results either!

I think i ay be changing my mind about doing the painting my self. Firstly, doesnt matter how good the paint is, if it aint correctly prepaired the paint will turn out shit. Im worried I might stuff up the preperation, plus its been cold, windy and rainy and my workshop if full of car parts, so i cant put it in there. I dont know what ill do......

that said, here some pics of the front subframe. has about 3 coats of primer filler. I wont be painting it in 2pak, just normal enamel paint.

hmmmm steve i think you will find that enamel will wash off with petrol .....paint it in 2K ...eitheir that or get it powder coated...............i had a thread with pics but the pics got lost with the change over on the site you could have a read and i could post up pics here if anyones interested....as long as its ok with you steve http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=33588

hey, i actually gave the subframe about 3 coats of "Stone and chip protector" or some sh!t like that. its real thick paint.

i also painted up my engine covers yesterday, i screwed up the middle one so i had strip the paint back and undercoat it again.

the weather has been almost perfect for painting, but as always its now gonna rain on the weekend so the engine bay will have to wait..........

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
