from my understanding a Gt ss is just like a stock replacement turbo ie base model hks turbo the gtr-s would be interesting as its supposed to have the responce of a 2530 but top end is equal or greater to a 2540 so if you can afford one go for it. I'd say you should go for a ride in 32 or ceffy with a 2530 and see if you like the responce of it I know I was shocked how laggy mine felt with a 2530 after hearing how non laggy these turbos are.

yeah i don't know anyone with a 2530. so you recon a gt RS turbo would be better than a 2530? its gona cost me 3k to get a brand new one installed (the GT RS

we have twin 2530's on our GTR.....yet to see a GT RS powered car come even close to our power levels. Dont be fooled by the marketing ploy of HKS...the 2530 is the best small turbo they have ever produced.....Why do you think MINES run them on their curcuit R34.

I can assure you an Rb20 would make a boatload more power with a GTRS turbine than it would with a 2530.

Huh... you are basing feedback from a twin GTR setup to a single on an RB20....im keen to see what a GT-RS can do on an RB20...but no Rb20 owners have come up with the coin yet so the masses wait patiently

I imagine a GT-SS would be very similar to the 2510, so can make a pretty solid 200rwkws at 1.1-1.2bar

The GT-RS seems to make 250rwkws on RB25s, its yet to be seen if on an RB20 they make the same numbers with the same boost. Im gueesing it can make 240-250rwkws , but may need 1.3bar to do so, and may only make that sort of boost at around 4,500rpm....

The above is just pub talk...so just some guessing looking at what other cars are doing with these turbos

so it may be better to stick with GT SS so i don't ahve to run so much boost as it is a standard engine with front mount exhaust filter fuel pump, i will get injector and tune wafter when i can afford it but engine is gona stay standard for a long while

I'd just buy a Garrett turbo something close to 2530 or 2510 if I was going to go new and sticking with the auto trans should cost you under $2,000 easy no need to spend 3,000 on a gtr-s if you will be happy with 220 ish

I don't know how the SR20 compares to the RB20 as far as power output goes, but I currently have an HKS GT-RS turbo on my SR20 making 250rwkw. Boost is 1.2bar, 260/12mm cams, PowerFC D-Jetro, port and polished head, 1.1mm headgasket for 8.8:1 compression.

i got quote 2700 to suply and fit a 2530 Garret turbo brand new. for the extra money i would rather go for the gtrs due to the workshop is more know that will do it for 3k.

Unless i can find a garret install for more like 2000 no ones seems to want to give me a price and if they do they recon you need lots of custom stuff. like manifold etc which doesn't make sense. (i figure they don't know wat they are on about)

a mate has a HKS GTRS that has been fully rebuild, and done in japan not here. never been on an engine since rebuild, it basically brand new. hes only after $2400

contact horse power in a box he has them (bolton Garrett turbos for rb20) for around $1890 and fit it your self you big girlie girl he he jk if I can fit a 2530 you can fit a bolt on turbo trust $1100 is a lot of money for something you can do yourself.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
