R33 GTS-T wanted ! help help ..

Recommended Posts

I'm going through J & H Import cars (based in Romsey, near Sunbury).

My 93 model R33 GTST sedan should be on the boat within days, so I can't tell you how good a service he provides until I take delivery of the car, but so far he's been very good to deal with & doesn't appear to be too full of sales-crap.

A firend of my brother got a Silvia through him & said he was excellent - quality car & no bullsh*t.

John Whiteman is the guy who runs them.

Email him on [email protected]

But, as above, beware of the potential for problems finding a compliance plate.

Mine is being complied in Brisbane, even though I'm in Melbourne, 'coz that was the only place he could get a plate.

Good luck & let me know how it goes (I'm an jouranlist writing about importing cars).

My email is [email protected]

I deal with XXXXXbefore and once he has that last $500 fee. He left my car at the quarantine for over a week and it took him almost 9 weeks.

I started this business after I dealt with him and imported cars like soarers,180sx's and skylines and it took within 8weeks. No hassle no delay no nothing and my customers love their cars too. Cos i told them not to buy damaged cars and go for grade 4.

I can get skyline plates in Vic ( abit dear $3500) and also a friend of the engineer.

SO STAY AWAY FROM XXXXXX

No need to pick on certain people.....Everybody is "the import specialist" What has this country come to when people dog each other out for $1000???The market here has become such a sh1t fight ...i mean id rather go to the casino and throw all my money on the table than tie it up in such a "business" venture.Lets see how many"Import specialist's" are around after R.A.W.S sets in.

Good luck gtst88 in finding a car,you have chosen a fantastic model

You started up a business because of XXXXXpoor service? Coz it took almost nine weeks? :whackit: Hang on a sec while I get my violin out... hmmm doesnt "within 8 weeks" sound a bit like "almost 9"????? :usuck:

I got my car throughXXXXXand was on the road within 9 weeks (sorry almost 10) after winning it at auction, which included the "Golden Week" holiday in Japan (ie the whole country does nothing for a week). When the car arrived it was in pristine condition, absolutely flawless. Since then I've got spare parts, and had them fitted, through J-Spec (which took less than 3 days) and I've also got wheels and a coola on the way as we speak. Nothing but outstanding service the whole way :uh-huh:.

If your gonna import a car its gonna take time. I'd always allow 10 weeks, that way impatient people wont lose it if it doesnt arrive to the second. If you dont wanna wait go and get one from a dealer or buy one privately!

I have heard good and bad things of XXXXXX (no need to edit mine :D). I think with importing, there are so many delays that are possible that you cant really blame the importer (unless they are obviously doing shit wrong).

Just think of our friend Bxxxx whos car has taken months and months. No explanation why, but the same importer has done cars in 8 weeks as stated by others.

If you use an importer, i think your best bet is to go with someone you trust to get you a good car... dont worry about time limits as there are always unexpected delays with shipping, customs, compliance, import approval etc.

if your really worried about time, go for a private sale. the price difference is very small from what I have seen lately. Dont forget with importing, you usually need a service, + new rego etc where in private sales they have often had good aus servicing and come with rego etc.

If your in Melbourne which it looks as if you are I recommend UPI that where I got my car from and so did a few of my mates … was easy enough and were all happy!!!

They also have a forum if you wana ask a few questions...

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
