yeah niz im with cam! about the jash thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah and cam but if i get a dump pipe to suit right, don't ya think it would make another place for exhaust leakage? that why i was thinkin of sellingmy apexi front and just getting a new dump/front made up!

i agree coilovers are awesome! but i can't justify paying that much unless i was harcore track racer! so i think i just go for the aftermarket shocks and springs!

dont really have itme to chase thats why i now use who i do - seems to be very thorough and has the time on his hands to be that way.

I'll get it done just got to find time n money - but first the blow off valve problem - one step at a time - should see the shopping list i have for my car - i mean just even the essentials its huge - need my brake pads replaced soon too or i might end up under a truck!

niz i have a blow off valve that i wanna sell! it's a ssr blow off valve styled like blitz! bit fatter though! apparently very loud (look at me loud) hehe although never put it on my car! if ya want you can take it off me to see if it will fix your problem, if it does you can buy it if ya want, if it doesn't then chuck it back at me in a big tantrum! ;)

adrian :D

Adrian - ok, I get what ur on about now - and i agree.. u should be able to get rid of the Apexi pipe and use the proceeds to get the dump/front combo done?

Niz - understand completely.. thats one thing i hate, chasing people so they can take my $$... fair call..

sorry niz it ain't a re-circulative BOV, it's a atmo-venting BOV :D

but i'll have a talk to a few mates might be able to get you one at a good price i'll see what i can do! why is ur stock BOV playing up or sumfin?

adrian ;)

mines aftermarket - there when i got the car - doesnt make a noise its just leaking air at the moment so its playing havoc with my idling and keeping the revs low so once i get that fixed then i can get it tuned and hopefully it'll be back to its feisty old self - its being sluggish lately and its boring the hell outta me ;)

hmmm wouldnt mind a bit of a ricey loud one. yeah keep your ears out for me anyway - might start looking for one saturday morning because i just want my car back to normal ASAP.

adjust the spring tension on the bov you got at moment? have you tried that? that should stop it leakin! just don't adjust it too much that it's too tight for the pressure to release when your off the throttle! are you going to auto salon niz? cam? if you guys are i'll be there saturday, tell me in advanced adn i'll bring the bov along with me on sat incase your nearby i can drop it off!

adrian ;)

going on Sunday. Hmmm spring tension - me under bonnet equals disaster - would rather be able to blame someone else if anything goes wrong but i may have to have a look anyway if its easy enough. Where abouts are u adrian? arent u thornlie way?

i'm in east cannington i go to thornlie tafe! what type of bov is the one ur using? coz i'm sure if you adjust the spring tension make it just a bit tighter it will stop leaking! coz you haven't upped your boost pressures or anything have ya?

adrian ;)

ahh k.. so the aftermarket one is hanging off the std mount then I take it?

I'm with Adrian - pull it off, clean it and tighten up the spring pressure.. Maybe get your mechanic to do it? Shouldn't take him more than an hour..

i think the boost is up a little more than standard ;) honestly i thought everything was standard apart from the obviousl lowering etc in my car when i bought it - but ive learnt lately that all is not what it seems - it has been played with. So im still learning what exactly is under that bonnet - i assumed that BOV was std til i was recently told otherwise - its nothing ricey looks like fairly standard - havent really taken a close look for myself lately - havent had time might have a look see this weekend see if i can find out make etc

you can do it yourself niz if ya have the right tools!

you probably wouldn't even need to take it off just adjust the spring tension there is normally a lil knob on top of the valve near where the hose from inlet plenum goes if i do remember rightly!

    • So I'll put filler past the repair area a bit to make sure I don't miss anything. Then I'll block it until it's almost level, put the guidecoat, then keep blocking until it's gone. Then it's still wavy.  In regards to hitting the panel, I saw this video might give more context - Skip to 0:47 he knocks it down. But yeah I'm sanding until the guidecoat is gone then checking because otherwise my filler is still well above the bodyline. Unless what you're saying is I should put guidecoat around it early, surrounding the filler then stip once it's gone?
    • I refreshed the OEM injectors with the kit and connected it up. It now ideals okay even with the IACV removed. Driving still has the same cutoff issue like the 550cc injectors so the issue is somewhere else. I bought FPG's Fuel Pump Hanger. I will be installing it next, but it is not as straightforward as I thought it was with my limited wiring knowledge and no instruction on the specific model I purchased (FPG-089). I also got the incorrect billet clamp as I could not find info on the OEM sizing.
    • Stop looking at the garage floor, and turn the radio up a bit louder if there's any strange noises...
    • No. Turbo shuffle and surge/flutter are not the same thing. Specifically, on a GTR, turbo shuffle has a definite meaning. On a GTR, the twin turbos are assumed to be the same thing and to operate the same way, exactly. In reality, they do not. Their exhaust sides are fed and exhaust a little differently, to each other. Their inlet sides are fed and exhausted a little differently, to each other. Consequently, when they are "working" they are often at slightly different points on the compressor map compared to each other. What this means, particularly when coming on boost, is that one of them will spool up and start producing extra flow compared to the other, which will put back pressure on that other compressor, which will push the operating point on that other compressor up (vertically). This will generally result in it bumping up against the surge line on the map, but even if it doesn't, it upsets the compressor and you get this surging shuffle back and forth between them That is "turbo shuffle" on a GTR. It is related to other flutter effects heard on other turbo systems, but it is a particular feature of the somewhat crappy outlet piping arrangement on RB26s. There are plenty of mods that have been attempted with varying levels of success. People have ground out and/or welded more material into the twin turbo pipe to try to prevent it. Extending the divider inside it works, removing material doesn't. There are aftermarket replacement twin turbo pipes available, and these exist pretty mush purely because of this shuffle problem.
    • You can temporarily* use lock collars to keep it in place until you can do the bushes, back the nuts off, slide them in, snug back up. *temporarily is often for ever
