Ohh and btw , I got the standing ovation tonight in the T*** place circle work . I am sure you know where I mean , just up from the place you frequent.

Got it to do a rotate on the spot 4wd donut. Needed the wet rd to keep it going.

phuck , I damn near passed out with the g force.

Now I know what the WRC cars at forrest place must have felt like in the old days of victory donuts. Hehehe

Nope , with the changes in the rules ie. no one is complying R32's and the uncertainty of the 15 yr old , I will wait for a while and see what happens.

Ken, I think my ring-lands have gone, will do a compression test on the weekend, see if it shows anything. But I drive sensibly too, don't know how it could happen:D

Yea , it seems to blow smoke on over run which means the vacuum could be drawing the oil up past the rings on overrun.

Could also mean that only your oil control rings are gone and the compression could be fine.

Ken, let me know when your doing it and I'll pop down, I'm just around the corner:D

Wondered why Danny has so many fried tyres:p

they normally stay out of that street but hear them rip up and down past there shop.

It is usually only a spur of the moment thing.

Any , I'm off cos the missus has just slammmmmmed the door which is a hint.:(

Oil control rings? Are they the second lot of rings on the piston? Is it bad? Should I put the forgies in sooner or later?

Nope , there usually the third set and are two thin rings with a wavy scraper thing. Not a real problem cos oil is cheap but it is telling you that the engine is getting tired. More boost and bigger terbs will kill it quick which is why I might as well get it done on mine now.

That and r and r the engine is like an 8 hr job.

Also finally found out mine has a nismo sprung twin plate and is in good nick so that's a bonus.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts
    • Bunnings would have just handed you your money back on that one!
    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
