DnB is still essentially a 4:4 beat pattern, but the use of breakbeats and the emphasis on the baseline as a component of production allows for improvisation and variation.

whereas "doof", ie. house/trance/dance/antsinyapants music generally employs a four beat bass drum and has an emphasis placed on the treble melodies. "hands in the air"
