Robo: Are you planning that high 11/low 12 on street legal rubber or drag slicks? What power are you getting with the 2535?

My car wont be ready for a few weeks still :P. With my new combo i am capping the power at about 260rwkw, i have been told that it should make about 280rwkw, but i have a std bottom end and would like to keep it in one piece for a little while .

I ran 12.55 on my normal street Sumituno's. Now ive got much stickier rubber (Toyo Ra1's which are street legal) and with a bit more power, i reckon i could go close. My 60's before where 2.0/2.1, if i can bring that down to 1.8, thats 0.2 a difference, generally you can double it over the whole 1/4, say 0.4. And more power, it will go close

:P That's a top effort!

Well remind me to line up behind you, as i am hopeless at drag racing :(, but occationally like to have a punt. I much prefer track work, as my car has been set up for that :).

robos , i d love to hear how you go with those toyos. im in the middle of trying to work out which way to go with tyres - run drag radials or semi slick tyres. i wouldnt mind coming down on friday . how much stickier is the drag strip compared with the street? would i crack a 12 on 245/40 dunlop lemans with 277rwkws??? probably be wasteing my time hey?

BigCarl

Well i dont know how good those Lemans are, but for example, on the street my sumitunos would spin every time in second gear when hitting boost. First gear is useless. But on the track i could actually get traction in first gear under full throttle. With the amount of rubber that goes on the surface during the drags, traction is heaps better than the street. If your not too abrupt with the clutch and power on take off, you might be surprised with the power you can get down. I was consistantly doing 2.0/2.1 with my street setup which i run the stiff Tein suspension.

    • We have a huge update coming in the next few months, version 5 of Invision will be released. I'm holding off any changes until after this change as I'm not sure what features will be removed or introduced.
    • Yeah, plenty of air flow, there is a dedicated path that feeds the air in to the OEM intake tube behind the bumper As for a "tangible effect", maybe, but getting the pod/intake air out of the hot engine bay is worth it psychologically to me, even if it gives no performance difference, so the tangible effect in my Lizard brain saysss yessss  In the end, to me a tangible effect isn't always about performance, sometimes it a sound or a look, or even a...... feeling  Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga
    • yeah first and reverse is where you will find clutch release issues (whether hydraulic or mechanical) because the difference in revs required is the highest there; particularly changing down from 2nd to 1st when still moving. To be clearer though, it is possible that the clutch release bearing is the wrong height. This is less likely than a hydraulic issue but it is not unheard of when you are mixing and matching
    • Quite right, if you make it to that pension you deserve every cent
    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
