Its a single O2 position, just moved furthur down the pipe to clear the manifold.

Yes, i am waiting on it. When i get it, ill make a DIY dump/front pipe install... i hope its soon as i have exams coming up, but, pfft, first year uni!

Alex .... is this what you are getting??

As l have noticed he has posted up these pics in this thread.

This thread - BOSimporting

COuld you forecast any problems with these two sensor positions? As l'm seriously, the more l speak to RB25 owners, thinking of getting one of these for my car.

Is anyone else using this set up from BATMBL on their stagea's?

Edited by [ STAGEN ]

Ok

He uses different manufacturers for the SS and MS (mild steel). The MS pipes are older so they are more tried and proven, the SS are new manufacturers so the original pipe i got was a bit off in lining up etc

Also, the sensor originally didnt fit, but in that new design it will be 100% i beleive

What i am doing to be 100% sure that it will fit is getting just a MS and a refund on the difference from the SS, in the end, it is an exhaust, doing what an exhaust does ey?

the

Maybe, if you want, i can come around to yours and install the pipe there, so you can get a before/after feel of it? Otherwise, chances are ill put it in this friday/weekend and ill let everyone know

My car won't arrive til either friday or early next week, and its got the stocko exhaust on to make RWC & rego easier :( :(

But yeah def put it on and let me know how you go.

I'm tossing up between the MS & SS, my other car has all SS and l love the sound it makes, plus l know l won't have any problems in the future with SS.

Make sure u take pics and post em up too!! :)

No pictures, its too difficult to take photos of any real value because of the heat sheild.

Also, the modifications that revzone made are also not really visible in photos.

Mate, best to come around and have a look when you have some free time. Shoot me a PM about it and we can arrange something no worries...(i finish uni exams thursday, so lots of free time)

np Alex.

I'll come round in a couple of weeks then, car should be on road early next week but then getting stuff done (stereo, exhaust, alarm) for the rest of the week, plus l'm still at uni.

But l'll give u a call when l'm finished and we'll work something out.

The split was put on at the same time as the intercooler.

Definatly, the car is faster after i had the work, but i find the biggest imrovement was in the topend where the car still pulls, where before it started to fade off 5k+

Considering an exhaust and good flowing intercooler are both essentially supporting mods, i am happy to say that i have the best (within reason) that i want

The biggest restriction in my exhaust is the fujitsubo catback. You dont get ~stock loudness without a cost, but that is a cost that i am willing to bare

Plus, i find that autos suck balls with loud exhausts, specially in the single cabin stageas!

BTW, what i dont classify as supporting mods are things like

Head work

Turbos

Internal works

I see these as the "real" things that improve power as they are the direct cause of the power...iono...od view i guess

No, they are good thoughts....

Im happy with the power increase Ive got from my larger intercooler, and thats before tuning. With the full exhaust it'll turn out quiet well.

My cat-back system is from japan and is super quiet too, so therefore doesnt pick up as much power as possible, but its a family car and not a race car, so thats all ok by me. But its also rusting a fair bit, so will look at getting a SS catback in the future.

Its the hiflow turbo that will push me to the 200kw mark....., so for me a quiet exhaust is a good exhaust. I'll keep the Fujitsubo in mind.

Well well well, i guess i am the man to answer these questions

Before buying i looked into exhausts that were available, sound volumes etc and I liked the fujitsubo the best

Have a look at this link, there are different exhaust sounds including

Dolphin-R

Fujitsubo Leglis R (mine)

Fujitsubo Super R (mine but with a resonator instead of a mid muffler)

Rudora Turbo advantage Burst 80

HKS Super Drager (what Burns has on his)

Trust BL Power Extreme

HKS Hiper for S1

HKS Hiper for S2

Nismo

Blitz NUR spec R

I dont know which is S1 or S2, but if you investigate you will work it out.

Have exhaust news, probably do just as well continuing this thread than starting another.

As you know i have the Fujitsubo 3" cat back. Today i had a 3" dump pipe and 3" cat installed. direct bolt on from an R33 dump, so easy to find the part.

What i did find out, i have a 2.5" dump and 2.5" cat coming off the car. neither of these are stock either, so depending on the condition of these pipes i'll probably let them go real cheap if anyone wants a mild exhaust upgrade. i'll find out tonight when i pick the car up and post again if they're worth selling. my exhaust was super quiet, could hear the shocks over the exhaust, so they did their job

Yeah that's right! I'm digging up an old thread! (Better than being abused for not using the search function so shuuuuush!).

Anyways - Hey guys =)

I'm looking at getting a 3" front pipe, dump pipe and high flow cat combo. Currently I have a 3" cat back HKS exhaust with the HKS Super Drager Muffler. Really happy with the sound but I just want to get the job done.

Since Alex has a few problems in terms of cutting and fitting the exhaust and there's some debate over R33/R34 exhausts for a Stagea; I'm a little reluctant to buy blind.

That being said, is there a split/dump/high flow cat that people know will fit on a S2 stag no questions asked? Furthermore is there a noticeable power gain from lets say a hks system, compared to a just jap exhaust?

Might get flamed for bringing up this old thread but shmeh, I know you guys are all too happy to help.

Thanks homies

Sorry for the late reply... I asked that question to BOS Importing recently 'cause I'd heard that their split pipes fit without modification, whereas a guy from JJR told me theirs *need* modification (but he said it was minor; cutting and welding involved by the sounds though)... here's the BOS Importing reply:

Hi David

The pipes fit with no issues. Regarding which pipe, it depends on the stagea you have. if its s1, then its the same pipe as r32/r33 gtst otherwise if its s2 with the neo engine then it needs the r34 gtt pipe. i wont have any pipes to send out until mid november as the person that makes them for me is gone overseas on holidays for a month. if you do decide on getting the pipe though, contact me in mid-nov and i'll arrange it for you.

cheers,

Michael

...so there you go... I'm a little dubious myself about the whole R33/R34 series 1/series 2 thing... I believe the chassis was designed based on an R33 and that there aren't that many differences between series 1 and series 2 (ie. same chassis) so the exhaust should be the same (ie. R33 split pipe ftw). Just my thoughts....

Chassis is the same but turbos are different: R33 on Series I, R34GTT (bigger exhaust wheel housing) on series II so front pipes may differ but I expect the rest would be the same. R33 front pipe is a tight fit on my Stagea but have had no problems with it.

  • 3 weeks later...

finally got the rest of my exhaust done last weekend. i already had a stagea specific HKS HI-Power 409 cat back system, which was a perfect fit, all hangers lined up perfectly, didn't hit on anything, very easy install.

i had a 3" R33 bellmouth dump, and i got a stagea x-force cat from justjap. when we trail fitted the dump it fouled on a part sitting off the side of the auto, so we had to adjust the angle abit. we also found that we had to add about 25mm of pipe to the straight section that runs under the car to get it to reach the cat. no problems with the cats flange angles though.

very happy with the result, it picks up alot better, better midrange power, and for some reason i believe i also have better fuel economy.

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
