NismoGirl
Does anyone know the name of a company that makes "hail blankets"? I know theres one that has an advertisement on the wall near the escalators going up to the food court at Logan Hyperdome.... Does anyone know who they are? With the amount of storms we've had in the past few weeks, and the supposed forcasted bad storm season that lay ahead in the next few months, I'm seriously considering buying a hail blanket... I'd rather spend $200 and prevent the $2500 expense I'd have to fork out through insurance just to claim.. Any information on companies that make these inventions would be great! 85URK
last year sometime saw on today tonight or some show like that, that one fo the qld universities were doing tests and designing a car cover that is placed over the car and the plugs into your cigarette lighter and inflates the cover aroudn the car forming a cocoon of air around the car to prevent hail damage, but i dont know is they ever got the project off the ground. but if they were sucessful they were going to market it for the public. it mite still be in development i dont know. Col-GTSX
I bought one from autobarn a year or so ago.... Its just like a very thick car cover... Once you pull it out of the box and un fold it... You will never get it back in... LOL... Thats the only pain is storage.... I can vouch for the quality as i had hail hit my black skyline about golf ball size (was crapping my self) and i had no damage at all. The AU falcon parked next to me had $7000 repair bill with 4 windows smashed and the interia turned into a fishpond.... NismoGirl
I was expecting it to be around $200.. What's the brand name of the cover Col? My boss has an account with Autobarn so I might be able to get them cheaper. The Dan
Just go to Autobarn - Buy a standard car cover to suit your car - then make a trip to clark rubber and buy a wad load of flexible foam - using contact adhesive you can stick small squares (20cm x 20cm) over the contact area of the cover, thus creating a foam heaven that your car will enjoy. Col-GTSX
Dont remember the brand erin and i chucked the box out sorry... But they only had one type... Its like doona stitched to a water proof car cover... I paid about 80 bucks for mine... I also have autobarn contacts.... LOL A cheap alternative is use a blanket off a bed and then use a standard water proof car cover....
