the learning curve thingy isn't it automated?

yah the blitz SBC i colour is a combination of SBC iD <-- boost controler and power id or sumthing allows you to check the power, in horsepower and kilowatts at the engine...I think it's inaccurate tho...works like the Apexi RSM with the G sensor attached

the display of the SBC i colour look like hand phone colour display..cool stuf..but damn expensive..

cheapest electronic boost controller is the Greddy profac B-spec II I guess..abd $450 each, Apexi AVCR at $600 each, and the SBC I colour I think it's abt $1000....

I've used AVC-R in a wrx sti type-r and it held 1.3 bar boost stable as hell. Worked well with an evo 8 too. Maybe it's just me being too comfortable with it. LoL. Haven't experienced anything bad with it... so I'm happy with the product.

The thing about buying a 2nd hand AVC-R or anything for that matter is that solenoids can and will spoil. So when u purchase a 2nd hand one it can be a little risky. And the solenoid from apexi alone is not cheap. almost $200 if i'm not wrong? So it might be safer to get a new one.

any blitz product will work best

tuners dont like the avc-r and yes its easiest 2 fit into skyline

avc-r is siingle soleniod compared to the rest that are dual, probably why it wont hold boost on some appplications

greddy use fuzzy logic which has its disadvantages. google it and find out cbf typing more

Tuners don't like AVC-R ? I don't know where u heard that one from.. maybe it's the case here.. but not from where i'm from. But it really boils down to the user. If you're goin high boost, then a dual solenoid would work very much better than a single. I prefer the AVC-R due to the fact that it's more tuneable..more complex. It takes lots of time to just tune the avc-r properly, and if u do it right, it works like a charm. Had no experience with the Blitz so i can't really compare, but from what i gather, it's a good product, but the functions available is more limited than the avc-r.

Woo! thanks ppl for the info! I'm all over the shop :)

R33 IMPUL, that combo sounds like the way, but I'm thinking of trying to get round the 300HP mark, bit more. I think cause of that, running the SAFCII etc might not work too well because of the auto factor.

Thanks again guys, you've all been alot of help!

I'll talk a bit more with some tuners and take it from there I think.

and you were laughing at my previous post, ill enjoy hearing what you have to say. u enjoy it because it is complex. rule of thumb is something complex is worse when theres simpler examples. next thing u will be telling me u still running ms-dos or sumthing cos its more challenging. fact that u mention it takes lots of time to tune it is the same reason tuners dont like it. and yes ive seen a well tuned evo 8 in singapore with a gear judge tuned avc-r (garage R) and even the owner reckoned it wasnt worth it. just needed to match with the interior so it was a cosmetic factor

BTW i got avc-r and its shite & i know where your coming from with its features. but its meant to control boost-period, not takeover iraq

Now we're gettin personal are we? Look. I ain't here to start a war or shoot down iraq as u said. Since u have the avc-r you should know about it's features and such.

You said anything from blitz is good. And it was just vague, it sounded as if you were a small kid who when pple said there is santa clause, u went around telling everyone that there really is.

I did some reseach on the blitz and i agree it's fantastically good from what i read. So much so that i'm considering getting it instead of the avc-r. If I never try new stuff, I'll never know what's better. Change is important for advancement. Without it, the whole world would be stagnant and we wouldn't have colour televisions and tv's and plasma and lcds.

No, i'm not telling u to use ms dos, but i do encourage linux. It's more complex and it's for the advanced user. Not anyone can handel ssh or telnet or stuff like that. And sometime ago Linux came out with a GUI. The favourite part about linux is it's stable, but more complex.

I personally don't think avc-rs are shit, but again to each their own. I felt tuning it was fun, interesting and i learnt new stuff, eg duty cycle, different settings at different rpms. The avc-r was the best at the time in 1999. Simple as that. And now times have changed. It worked fine as hell for me, with my tuning which took a whole day of fun. Spiked once in a rare while, which is like almost never. And responsive when i need it for more spirited driving. So when pple tell me avc-r is sucky, i believe it boils down to their tune of stuff. The user, not the unit, as the unit is not as intelligent as the new SBC 3 and needs a lot of work to be tuned.

Cheers! :O

P/s: Regarding my previous post, if u noticed, i'm not one to insult pple. So if u took it as that, then sorry dude, no malice intended. :)

Actually i don't find it unstable. It's just very complex, which i find challenging. To a point that u definitely need to take some time to fully understand and tune it. A rushed job or impatiance can cause it to be unstable. That's the reason why i took 1 full day and 1 & 1/2 tank of gas just to get it tuned properly. Worse than doing a dyno. LoL :) Treat it with love and care, and it'll show the same. Maybe it just loved my car and my car loved it too. LOL.

you just got lucky

do a search

they suck

but look rice

" While the AVC-R is supposed to tune itself, it seems the brunt of the work is on your shoulders. If you like to fiddle with things, you'll be in heaven. " Yeahh... my heaven! hehehe. Anyone has any idea if the sbc 3 can vary the boost with rpm? Cause u don't need the boost to suddenly kick in for day to day driving. Decided to go with the blitz to try it out. :(

another one here with avcr and im undecided. i found if i turn the learning off its a lot more stable even without tuning. i agree that it is complex and im sure its awesome if you spend 7.5 hours tuning it but all im after is stable boost. iraq to myself would be pretty cool though...

    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
