my mate just got his S6 rx7 in the country... he had to jump start it as the battery was crap..

now there are 2 Greddy electrical (water and oil pressure) guages that dont work anymore..

also a pivot temperature controler (for fans) not working either.

anyone know if they have an internal fuse or are they usually fused somehwere else?

sooo many wires running all through the car (dunno why they alwasy do it that way) but just checking for any hints on it.

mainly the pivot unit as it cotrols the thermo fan so it cant be driven until thats fixed

i think the only way to get to the bottom of it is to go through tracing the wires back to where they are getting their power from. as far as i know none of those modules have any internal replaceable fuse. Whoever connected them should have used a fuseable power supply. In fact probably the quickest way to figure it out is to just check all the fuses out on the fuse panel. the fact that something blows does suggest some other problem though, possibly too many things drawing current fron the one source. man i hate electrical problems! good luck :)

Is that the black series 6 rx7, f*kn nice machine he has ... take it to an auto elec. Dont even risk backyard electrics if you dont know exactly what your doing. Not safe to you or the car.

All the best

As long as you dont open the bonnet, all the electric system is only 12V so dont be afraid to have a poke around.

As LO R33 said, get a multimeter and have a look. If they have power, you have probably fried them as the were hooked up to a non-fused source (like straight from the battery)

If they dont have power, the odds are a fuse has gone. I'd be checking the cigarette lighter fuse first, as most people run heaps of stuff off it as its easy to get to and has positive, earth and illumination (what most gauges need).

thanks for the hints there guys ....

but this is funny ... it was actually all drawing power from the ECU - crazy japs :)

but it was only a coincidence that when he jump started it a connector that was running the 3 units disconnected behind the head deck .. oh well its sorted now ..

hey Coupe .. the car is red. and race import only so its fine to be doing a back yard ish job as it is still to be stripped out etc.

this is it .. small pic though

wow drawing power from the ecu... i usually connect things to the cig lighter circuit as im a bit paranoid about things like that.

yeah i cant see why they would take the power from there .. but they did .. and the issue was sorted .. just a loose connection from the ign switch in the fuse box to the remotes for all three units

    • Out of curiosity, how do you cover up the inspection hole? Surely it doesn't sit open like that, right? With grime and dirt coming in and oil going out?
    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything
