Hi guys,

I've had my r33 for about a year now, just wondering about

getting a -little- more power out of it. everything is stock on it except for a k&n inbox air filter (wet), and boosted to 10psi.

Currently is 149.7rwkw. Is there anything more I can do, without changing intercooler, turbo, exhaust, filter, ecu, re-map fuel, etc.

just to sqeeze a little bit more out of it --- rwkw 170's maybe...

Thanks,

Well, you could try a full port and polish, cams and cam gears... but why dont you want to do the normal things most people do when after a little bit more - there is a reason that people follow that path.

I would personally think of 20rwkw as a reasonably significant gain in power.

I don't mind spending a few hundred, but not a few 000.

i would'nt mind getting at cat back exh, but the gf will complain - I used to have an r31 b4 this one, with had a cat back sports - she drove me nuts with complaints 'bout headaches...

I don't wanna touch the motor, and don't wanna spend 000's on new turbo's, intercoolers, powerfc's...just wanna little more kick...

was reading some forums the other day, and a member (can't remember who?) - his avator was something like stock everything, 10psi and something crazy like ~180rwkw???

just wanted to know what he did...I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to this sort of stuff - may seem like a silly question - but what a pineapples??? - have heard them in forums. he also mentioned something about factory ecu & connecting something to it (safc???)

thanks.

1995 R33 GTS-T

67,000km

3" Cat back Nismo Exhaust

HKS Pod Filter

FMIC

EBC

(Possibly chipped ECU but no proof)

7psi - 168rwkw

12psi - 192rwkw

If you want abit more oomph get a full 3" Exhaust System. Should cost you around $800ish and if you get a decent type/brand they really aren't loud. A mate had an R31 and it was SOOO loud i'd get a headache after 2km but the propper exhausts are seriously quiet.

Their is quite abit of restriction in the stock exhaust system so your sure to gain those extra rwkw's that your after.

If you want to know what Pineapples are read my review here

Thanks guys for all your help...if U think of anything else pls let me know...might go the 3" cat back jobbie for now - if there is a lot a restriction in the stock exh, then this might do the trick...

just as an estimate, how many rwkw's might I get just going cat back? If it's resonably quiet like U say, the gf shouldn't have noth'in to complain 'bout!!! - can someone recommend a good place to get this exh or price it??? - I've got a local guy, but don't know if he's on the money...what about nizpro in bayswater???

thanx.

I've got a mod that won't get you any power, but won't cost you a cent! What it will do though is allow further mod's down the track.......

It's called the no more g/f mod  Sorry, couldn't help it!

Try around the local haunts and keep getting your car dynod at different places until you find one that reads high, and presto 170rwkws:D

Ive heard some people removing the wire mesh from their airflow meter for a few Kws, but power costs money even when you can do things yourself.

why don't you remove as much stuffs as you can out of your car ie lightened it?

spare tyres, sound system, air con, carpets, sound deadening etc...:D:)

and oh yeah lose some weight yourself, probably makes money out of the craps you took out of your car for more meaning mods..

just my 2c...

    • If they can dyno them, get them dyno'd, make sure they're not leaking, and if they look okay on the dyno and are performing relatively well, put them in the car.   If they're leaking oil etc, and you feel so inclined, open them up yourself and see what you can do to fix it. The main thing you're trying to do is replace the parts that perish, like seals. You're not attempting to change the valving. You might even be able to find somewhere that has the Tein parts/rebuild kit if you dig hard.
    • Can you also make sure the invoices on the box (And none exist in the boxes) are below our import duty limits... I jest, there's nothing I need to actually purchase and order in. (Unless you can find me a rear diff carrier, brand new, for stupidly cheap, that is for a Toyota Landcruiser, HZJ105R GXL, 2000 year model...)
    • Murphy strikes again! Nothing at all would have gone wrong if you had the tool kit in the car! You'd have just found the clamp loose the next time you went to touch it...
    • I have been being VERY quiet about what you're alluding to, as it is something that ticks me off... The number of cars from factory that run coil overs is HUGE! Most of them these days do... The other part that annoys me, is people saying "Well all the incabin adjustable suspension is illegal by blah blah blah"... If that's the case, then why can I buy a car brand new that can do it if, FULL STOP in cabin adjustable suspension is illegal...   Also, I could just chuck some aftermarket shocks in my car, throw the stock springs on, after my blue slip, dump my super low springs back in. Same shock and spring style setup... Hell, they could also be the same colour springs etc.     I'm voting, BlueSlipper didn't want to touch the above car for some reason. Whether it be some sort of bias against the car, the owner, them maybe having previously done dodgy shit and now they're being super careful in case they get slapped in the face by the Gumbyment again... Find a new blueslip place.   And can confirm as you had said, yes there are holy bibles of vehicle heights, and all sorts of other suspension stuff. Heck your run of the mill mechanic, and tyre shop has access to all of that stuff. It's how they do wheel alignments...
    • Funny story Heading to Sydney this morning on the HWY there was some slow traffic, so I gave it the beans and midway through my overtaking "power run" I lost all power It seems that I missed a hose clamp,  and the MAF and filter went WiFi To make this more problematic, the little tool kit that lives in the boot, is sitting in the sun room at Goulburn......LOL Luckily for me I found a bit of steel on the side of the road that could be used like a rusty and bent flat head screw driver to tighten it up enough that it got me into Sydney, it is now all tight like a tiger with the aid of a 8mm socket Note to self: Use my brain and double check stuff, and always keep that little tool kit in the car for when I have a brain fart
