Hi all, i've recently notice on late model R34GTR, they all have this little vent seem to sit on top of the turbos. Nissan has never had vents on their cars before havn't they?

Anyone know what's the purpose of this? It doesn't look like an air escape vent neither intake vent!!!

Also anyone has a close up pic, under the bonnet pic?

I can assure its not an aftermarket item its a stock Nissan item that all series 2 V-specs have . Try another dealer , one that deals with imports .

Alright, i've been on the phone with some of Nissan dealers for the last 2 hours  , friday thing, dont' feel like working lol. Anyway, no one was able to find the article for the vent EVEN THOUGH it shown on their pdf sheet that there is a square HOLE on the bonnet!!!!

To be able to dig in further, i'll need a chassic number of an R34GTR. Well its' not that important, i'm just curious thats all. Garry Roger Nissan has been very helpfull, Also found part number for R32GTR Thermal switch (2159573L05) and cost $115+gst still they don't know what temp range it will activate the fan.

managed to get it working and yep its a trap for the shit that falls through the hole....Factory bonnets are painted and the quality is quite poo...you can still see the woven mesh throught the paint...they tape up the vent hole before painting them thats why it looks like a separate part.....Do you want one of these vents?I could hack one out of an old panel if you like

no.....its on the carbon bonnets only and its moulded into the bonnet......not a seprate parts

It is only on the c/f factory fitted bonnets ( all V-SpecII's have them ) but i'm fairly sure it comes off . Its not even painted the same colour as the bonnet .

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
