hey all,

i have an R32 4 Door with pretty much a stock rb20det in it and i popped the bonnet yesterday and noticed oil all over the firewall on drivers side and it seemed that the dipstick had slowly rattled its way out a bit and then oil is obviously slowly comin out and with wind comin in to the engine bay while driving causing it to spray over the firewall.then after i checked oil level it read way way over the high line on dip stick so i drained like 2 1/2 litres out and then rechecked it and it was fine .

BUT my main concern was that there was oil on rocker cover/coil pack cover and around/in stock BOV.would this just be because there was way to much oil in there.

any help would be great thanks guys.

Holy shit how much oil did you put in there to start off with?!

My brother had this happen to him on a different engine (351 V8). It appeared that the breather was blocked so air was being forced up the dipstick, and when we were on a long trip through the country he lost a few litres of oil up the dipstick...

Althought i dont know if our engines have some sort of breather however...

But back to the matter at hand, how much oil did you put in there to start off with.

ive only put about half a liter in since ive had the car. so must of come from japan with too much and i must of looked at dipstick and got side tracked

First thing i did when i got my car was to change all oils and filters...

So from then on you know your have EXACTLY 5000kms before the next oil change and you know EXACTLY how much oil has gone in.

I would do an oil and filter change tomorrow just for peace of mind if i were you...

rofl .... running original oil from japan with a top up ... i feel so sorry for your car the cost of rebuilding a f**ked engine is nothing compared to proper servicing. Id be doing a complete oil and filter change immediately.

    • You'd want to cap off the re-entry back into the dump too. Just something flat that can be held on by the Vband.
    • Thanks for the recap Matt Z. It was a great day out and I know you have said it already, but we couldn’t have done it without the volunteers.
    • Couldn't agree anymore, massive thanks to all that came by, helped out, or those who just wanted to talk cars. You are the community that make this such a great car club. cant wait for what we have planned for the future
    • Looking at the photos, you could easily just drop this pipe and dump into atmosphere  Just 1 or 2 quick hits for data acquisition - if have a heat shield material and/or sheet metal, maybe just use wire/metal cable ties and attach it in a way to deflect heat from melting nearby wires.
