  1. I didn't think what I said could be interpreted in more than one way? there is no ambiguity. What I meant is, they're both the same. both good shit. Buy whichever you can get more readily, cheaper, etc etc.
  2. It isn't an upgradge, it's a downgrade, because the gtr turbo is smaller. Also, it doesn't even bolt up. it would require lots of mods to put it on. Unless if the car was from antarctica or somewhere where there are no gtst spares, i highly doubt that it's running a gtr turbo. Even if I lived in antarctica, i'd still buy one from overseas and get it sihpped.
  3. danger to da man-fold - ouch In all seriousness, buy a consult cable, run ecutalk and monitor stuff.
  4. nah, you lose abs if you change diff with housing apparently (haven't done it personally). Are you sure you can' just change the centre? pm - snowman is that his name? has a blue r34 gtr. he swapped out the cetnre for a mech centre.
  5. Much of a muchness really. I have a magic cat. it's fine.... I'm sure the others are too
  6. that's a very very nice piece of pipage you've organised there eug. absolute bargain as well.
  7. best bet would be a retrofit. If you notice, the GTR SIII headlights are a very simple shape. It is as if nissan got the sI housing, ripped all the crap out, put in sII shaped reflector for highbeam, put a projector in the low beam and put a bezel around it. I was gonna make a couple sets for giggles and bragging rights last holidays, but I was busy with other commitments. Maybe this christmas if I can find some cheap headlights again (there were so many last christmas).
  8. Ok, because, if it's the actuator rod that's rattling, that means that it's most liekly the flap on the exhaust side. one thing you can do to fix it, is either get an adjustible actuator like the hks one, or bend your actuator rod. I wasn't aware of this, but looks like maybe gcg use a shorter catridge too like the slide turbos? Instead of bending the actuator rod, i'd prefer to buy the adjustible. better do things the right way.
  9. They won't fit your car. your car has sII headlights. the gtr lights are the same shape as sI lights. so they'll fit onto an sI, but not an sII gtst.
  10. Tell me dave, is it a sliding performance highflow?
  11. I've run 16-18 psi. but I'm different to your mate edit: actually, when we were tuning the ebc, boost has been up to 25 psi.
  12. zilch - pm sent.
  13. That is obviously NOT what I am looking for unless if you're willing to sell it for $20, which you obviously are not.
  14. IF the fuel hose is hard, it can't hurt to replace it. I had trouble getting my fuel filter off (without spilling blood - precious blood). The lines were hardened onto the filter nipple. I've got a new tool now that could probably do it, but I just slit the line with a knife, and replaced it. It's so nice having a new line. It's just so luscious and soft, and it slips over the fuel filter so easily. Makes changing a breeze. If the lines dont' look too bad, i'd leave them. I'd change them if they are affecting what you need to do e.g. the lines to the fuel fitler.
  15. that's pretty hard to believe. when I was retrimming my seats, I had to reverse the car out of the garage and drive it back in sitting on a crate. It was so hard. I had to drive backwards and forwards like 10 times.
  16. Every oil change on the skyline, i dump the oil, and then that oil gets used for an oil change on my daily driver Seems dodgy and cheap, but it's probably not too bad a thing. The oil after 3-4000 ks is probably still better than the cheap shitty $20-30 oil that I would have otherwise used. This is probably the dogiest thing that's been said so far. My mate used to have this paddock basher, and we snapped the handbrake cable. Cable was joined with a little bit of cable from a hardware store - that's pretty dodgy. paddock basher was smashed in at the front after a little bush bashing mishap. Car wouldn't drive because the guard was squashed onto the tyre. Banged it out with a hammer and crowbar. ran the basher on diesel. skyline - never done a dodgy thing. it's my baby. everything is done properly.
  17. I agree with you about experience and qualification when you put it that way. what i'm trying to say, is that with a lot of research, and if you know what you're doing, you mmgiht not be that bad off. I have a friend who's been going about it like that, and while he might not make optimum power/torque, his tunes are fairly good. He makes them very safe. I'd happily let him do my car (won't cost much at all).
  18. yeh, she fangs mate. Dyno comps aren't important. dyno figures differ from day to day, dyno to dyno - if she chirps seconds, then that's all that matters.
  19. fp, fmic, bc, e, t, cai - all good mods.
  20. the engine check light isn't anything special. Stock ecu does it too when it hits knock. I'd say most liekly, the knock map was tuned to be the same as the normal map (at worse than the normal map etc)
  21. first mod = search. fp, fmic, bc, cai, t
  22. Whatever oil you use won't affect driveabiltiy much unless you've used something totally f**ked up like a gear oil (75 w 90) or something. All that I can say, is I usually get about 4.6-7L in. Is this the first time you've done the oil change? or have you done it before and notice that it's different this time.
  23. agreed. your tuner probably had the retard map the same as the normal map. A remap in itself can be as good as a powerfc tune or better. No discussion. At the end of the day, it comes down the tuner/remapper. i've seen plenty of shit remaps, and plenty of shit powerfc tunes. I've also seen a few good remaps and a few good tunes too. The price that people seem to be charging for remaps/tunes though are an absolute steal. There is no way I would pay that much for it. Like lets say 50-60 an hour. I have never seen a tuner spend 10 hours doing a 'normal tune' to justify the 5-600 cost.
  24. I'm very interested in this. I pmed you but your pm reply wasn't very helpful. If you're willing to sell it for an actually decent price, i'll take it. http://www.kincrome.com.au/web/catalogue/s...tnumber=MTW150F The rrp is $118 on the website. Shops sell it for even less. my numbers 0403 211 482 if you want to tell me a better price. I'll pretty much give you money straigiht away if the price is right.
  25. Still looking
