  1. I've considered whether a 180sx would be better for me than an R33, but my reasons were due to it be a lighter car and easier to throw around. However, I've spent far too much on the R33 to sell it and I'm sure if I had a 180sx I'd wish I owned at R33. As long as you don't lose out on money, go for it. However, R33's are pretty damn reliable. The running costs shouldn't be much higher at all and since yours is basically stock it should be in good condition.
  2. I have an R33 Gts-t and my mate has a Aus S15 so when mine was stock, it was faster but your JSpec one will be faster than a stock Gts-t. His does feel a lot lighter to drive though although less stable at high speeds. He commented how it started shaking a bit when he took it up to 180km/h and felt a little unstable whereas my 1994 R33 pulls over 200km/h without shaking one bit. I'm a very conservative driver so there's no way I'd take my car that fast unless I felt completely safe doing so, and I do. However, if I had the choice of car, I would go for the S15 hands down. Far far newer, and once you start modifying, from what I have heard it will be faster as well. Although you pay about 10k extra. Keep in mind that if you're going to be modifying this car then the power advantage of JSpec over Aus S15 will not matter as the restrictive parts in the Aus S15 will be removed leaving you with pretty much the same car (Jap/Aus).
  3. The car would not run out of puff up a hill in 3rd after pulling itself up to 5000rpm. If it can pull up to 5000rpm then it should be able to keep going. We're talking 3rd gear here guys in a turbo. If anything, power should increase as the revs raise and yes, they may start to drop off after 5000rpm but they won't drop so much that the car can no longer accelerate up a hill. If it can pull from 3000 to 5000 up the hill, then it's not going to stop suddenly at 5000. I'd be guessing some kind of limiter for sure. Boost leak, overboost causing boost/fuelcut perhaps. But not the hill. If it was the hill, he'd know it.
  4. You will be very happy with an R33 Gts-t. They are one of the best value cars for what you get.
  5. Purchase: $17.5k Turbo, Wolf3d, Pump, Malpassi, Front/Dump, FMIC, BOV, Pod, Tune etc... $10k $27.5k total.
  6. More info. Did 4th work ok? Did the car continue to increase speed but just didn't feel like the extra revs were giving power? Did you hit a 180km/h speed limiter? (not sure if S14's have these, jap spec?)
  7. One of the most common turbo upgrades for RB25's. Sometimes I wonder if I should have gotten one instead of my 460hp unit which it probably a little laggier.
  8. I like 400r's are too over the top for me.
  9. Something wrong with your vacume line? That sounds like a very strange thing to happen... Edit: Assuming we're not talking about the backfiring problem when using an afm.
  10. Turbo died while having new exhaust fitted. Solution, upgrade to 460hp turbo with ecu and fuel support. Clutch died with new turbo. Not built to handle 400hp. Got a heavy duty one put on. Since in both cases I was able to upgrade, theoretically no money was wasted. Everything else is great. I love my Skyline
  11. IPS460 T04e (460hp) Wolf3dv4 Walbro Pump Malpassi Garrett 300x600fmic 3inch zorst from turbo 242rwkw @ 16psi Dodgy dyno sheet as the clutch was slipping as boost came on then grabbing on at higher revs... made for crazy power dips along the curve. Stock injectors were close to max at this power. New injectors (when money permits) will allow 18-20psi which will bring this turbo more into its efficiency range as at the moment it still has a lot left in it.
  12. Woa lag monster... Let us know how it goes. I have a 460hp turbo in my 25det and that's laggy enough for me. Get a fuel pump! Maybe you missed it on your list but this should definately be included as I know for R33 Gts-t's, the fuel pump upgrade comes before the injectors. Once again, daym... that is a huge turbo! Just make sure you can get enough fuel through the system to keep it safe.
  13. Chaser is the hottest. And most people won't even know what it is
  14. Yeh but what's been done to it? Should I make a post saying - "Yay I made 240rwkw. Goodbye." Sure he's happy but comon, what the hell was this post lol!
  15. It's not a GTR but I dumped $10k into my Gts-t all in one go... Doh. But I love it
  16. Guys your cars all sound f**ked. Stock my car was getting 400-450km. With mods (240rwkw, 16psi) I get just under 400km before I refill. My last tank (freak tank) got me 460km! Generally if I give it a lot of thrash I'll get just over 350km. Anything under 300 with normal driving and I'd be sure somethings wrong.
  17. I have a nicely modded R33 (240rwkw) but I still sometimes think I should have gotten the 180sx as I know they're a much lighter and sportier car, and I drive for the thrill and speed, not the comfort or to pick up women. But yeh, the R33 is a very nice car and feels solid and smooth on the road even at speeds in excess of 200km/h (track ) so definately an A+ cruiser, but a B+ racer. Just depends on what you want out of a car
  18. This is a no brainer. Supra > Gts-t. It will shit on it. You own both cars. Don't you notice the superiority of the Supra? I have a 240rwkw R33 Gts-t and yeh it's great but I'd swap it for a TT Supra any day. Possibly even a stock one if it was is good condition. Post this on a Toyota forum (www.toymods.org.au) and see what answers you get. 99% will laugh at the question.
  19. Just know that when you buy your Skyline you are not buying an investment. Think of it as a consumable This is why with cars (especially imports) it's often vital to make sure you get exactly the car you want first time round, because selling it when you change your mind is going to lose you a LOT of money.
  20. My cold start is great. I turn the key, it cranks a few times and then jumps up to about 1200rpm for 5 seconds settling back down to idle at 800rpm. I don't have to touch the throttle or anything. I just reach inside the window and turn the key for about 1.5 seconds.
  21. 400-450km every time on a full tank depending on driving, and that's not running it to completely empty cause you'd have to be a moron to do that
  22. All you people with problems should really think about getting it tuned by someone who knows that they're doing. Matt Spry from PITS, Gold Coast tuned a Wolf3Dv4 in my R33 Gts-t and it runs nothing but perfect. NOTHING but perfect. I have not a single complaint. Never backfires, never misses a beat. Just over 240rwkw on stock injectors and everything runs smooth. If anyone is Brisbane ever wants to see a Wolf running in an R33, let me know and I'll show you just how well this thing goes.
