  1. Look at mine mate. The fmic fits in fine without cutting as you see my avatar, so does the aftermarket front bar. It's just this specific bar which won't fit. If I can't cut that piece out, I might just have to cut the bar to fit but you'll be able to see the metal and it will look nowhere near as good.
  2. It makes me wonder though, how the hell does the car above have that bar on there without the cutting? While cutting does seem stupid, if the negative is only that my front will be weaker in a crash then that doesn't seem too bad. And yes, I'm aware it would be a defect. But what isn't these days? Hmmm... more comments thanks guys. I might speak to some workshops as well.
  3. 370rwhp on stock injectors? Sounds suss
  4. Meh. I have 240rwkw and you get used to it quickly. Sure, 1st and 2nd gear are fast enough but you soon want the same results out of 3rd and then 4th.
  5. Hey guys one question. You're using a 550hp (approx) turbo and only aiming for about 250rwkw? Won't this be running the turbo quite a bit below its' efficiency range? If you wanted 250rwkw, wouldn't a GT-RS have been a better option due to the fact that it will be far more responsive? A 550hp turbo should be good for towards 300rwkw.
  6. Mate you're asking for more power with less lag. The whole issue with more power and bigger turbos is that you get MORE lag. It's the payoff. You can't have both. If there was a turbo that had more power and less lag then why would anyone even bother with a GT30R?
  7. Hi guys. Wasn't sure if this was the correct section for this but I'll post it here anyway considering it's a technical one. I just purchased a new front bar for very cheap. The problem is, my new front bar will not fit on the car due to a piece of metal (some kind of bracing perhaps) blocking the bar from fitting properly. I would like to remove this piece of metal but I wanted to check with you guys first to see what you think and if this is a stupid idea, or if other people have also had this done to fit aftermarket front bars. My existing bar (aftermarket) fits fine. If you take a look at the pics, you can see what I am talking about. I have posted a pic of the new front bar I have as well as a pic of my car and the section of metal which is causing the interference. I could modify the bar to fit around this metal but the metal will still be able to be seen as the new bar has a large opening in the front and the fact that the metal covers a portion of the cooler. Please take a look a make comments. Thanks guys - Drew.
  8. Coolers are generally used to let you run more boost safely. If you're not running more boost, then you're not using the advantage than an aftermarket cooler gives you. Once you get the boost up, you should smoke the S14.
  9. R34's will be a bit more because of the better RB25. Dyno readings vary but as a general rule, 140rwkw is about right.
  10. I'd like to remove mine but I've had to use it once. Although without a toolkit (I was lucky and had one on me at the time) there's no point me having it there. I might remove it
  11. Front mount intercooler. If you want to mod your car cheaply, get a fmic, exhaust, filter upgrade and add a little boost. Any more and you're going to have to start looking at computers and then turbos.

    32 Gtr Tuning

I had my R33 Gts-t tuned there with a Wolf3D but he does PFC's as well. I was very very happy. Just over 240rwkw through standard injectors (too poor to upgrade atm). The car has NEVER backfired or misfired or anything. The tune is to perfection.
  13. I also was under the impression that as long as they know about the mods, you will be covered.
  14. Just Cars - 23 - Rating 2 $1100 Full Comp. Dropped from $1600 the year before. Yay me
  15. I've found my boost guage to be awesome help. I'd recommend everyone get one as their first mod if they're planning on doing anything to their car (performance wise).
  16. You'll definately need some aftermarket fuelling device for a larger turbo. Stock computer won't handle it. If you're going for a turbo upgrade, you'll need $4-5k which will inlcude all supporting mods + tuning.
  17. WTF... even if it was stock turbo I call bullshit. Unless we're talking slicks and nitrous (tuned to get this pass at least once before blowing up)
  18. The original is from www.boostcruising.com for those intersted. The thread there at this time is 7 pages long and has heaps of discussion regarding this.
  19. When my car was stock I was on a track one day. I was rolling along side a new Monaro owned by a friend. We were going 70km/h. He stabbed it so I dropped so second and gunned it. I got smoked.
  20. If it's a drag car, make sure you havn't left the parachute open.
  21. Mine did this with stock bov, turbosmart atmo bov, plumback gfb using map sensor, atmo gfb using map sensor. I'm convinced it has nothing to do with the bov.
  22. Another vote for going with the tuners choice. My tuner (P.I.T.S) said PowerFC or Wolf3d. I tried the Wolf and am extrememly happy as the tune is perfect. Everyone who's been in my car has commented on how well it runs for a moderately modded Skyline. Since the tune and running 16psi I have never heard it backfire at all or splutter even once at high revs. This however, is due to a good tune, not a good chip. I'm sure I would have had the same results with a PowerFC. It's all about the tune!
