  1. can anyone tell me the size of a short verus long oil pump drive on the front of the crank. i brought a new rb26 crank 18months ago and want to measure the drive before i refit it. i assume the all new cranks from nissan would have the wider drive but want to double check. pics or measurement would be nice. cheers NutR33
  2. Hi Guys, I was wondering if anyone has used or know if the oil pump from a RB26DETT will fit onto the RB25DET. Im looking at upgrading my pump and was hoping the the N1 RB26 would fit. I know the cranks, rods, bearings (i know, im using them) and other stuff are all interchangeable but wanted to make sure the pumps are before i go ordering one and getting stuck with it if it doesnt fit.   6. Hi, Im chasing a std rb25det exhaust manifold in good condition, not cracked - no longer require one. Im also after an air flow meter that is NOT in working order for a SERIES 1 r33 gtst. I have had the same problem with my venolia pistons Im using a rb26 crank and rods in a rb25 block with venloia pistons and N1 rings running 22psi. the motor had less than 10k and 12 months on it and distyroyed no4 pistons for other reasons. When i stripped the motor i found cracks on all 6 pistons in the same spot leading up from the oil squiter area. The pistons were installed with a clearance of .005 as per recomeded ( specs from venolia are .006 to .01 i believe - can someone correct me on this) and knocked the bores around a bit to a clearance of .0065 when removed. Currently the pistons are at a piston maker in melbourne for their expert veiws, and a quote on a set of custom units to be made. I will post up any further news when it comes to hand.

  12. no the rb25det are not a free spinning motor, i have seen the carnage the a broken cam belt will do and its not pretty - luckly it was not my motor. lol

Car - R33 gtst RB25DET 95,000km Problem - noise in no.1 cylinder when hot at idle, goes away above idle or under load Cause - bent No1 conrod causing the piston skirt to hit on the oil squirter that hangs into the bore to lube/cool the underside of the piston. Tune - std engine internals with hi-flow ball bearinged std housing turbo running 12 psi, front mount cooler, full turbo back 3" to 4" exhaust, Wolf 3d computer. This happened while the car was on the dyno getting the wolf rutuned after the turbo was installed. Oil was castrol fmx gt3 (or something like that) changed every 5000km with a filter All the rest of the engine was spot on eg, bearings and pistons It is still unclear as to what actually caused the problem Now - due to this little problem the engine now sports rb26 crank and rods with arp rod bolts, oversized venolia forged pistons with genuine nissan N1 rings and bearings. The only mechaning needed for this combo to fit in was a rebore for the oversized pistons. everything else bolted up. You have to love nissan for their thinking with the rb series as so much is interchangeable
