  1. Out of interest, what kms where they originally claiming? 80/90,000kms?
  2. You'd have to say that buying through one of the services such as Iron Chef, JLM, Prestige, J Spec etc would have to be safer AND cheaper than buying from a dealer in Aus. That way you'll see the genuine auction sheet pre purchase as well as receive the dereg etc.
  3. It does have have the dates as mine was inspected in 2009 and then 2011. Kms were 100% consistent with the certificate.
  4. Good to hear the other side of a story. I can't believe the guy who logged on and posted once wasn't legit. What is this world coming to?
  5. It would have been interesting to see what they would have supplied in terms of certificates etc to support the kms they were originally claiming.
  6. God bless the Internet. Identifying this sort of thing would have been near on impossible in the past. The ad currently reads 134,000km. Has it been updated?
  7. I too was a lil excited when I first saw this. Any stuff to clear as you move in??? Bags the $5 TE37SLs
  8. Forrester STi wagon chef is currently selling. Sweet ride, different, and can be easily tuned if u wish.
  9. I've dealt with prestige, chef AND edward lees many moons ago. The Type X 180 I got from edward lees was beautiful but that was around 10 years ago. No issues whatsoever with prestige which was again ages ago and chef has been great this year. I would suggest steering clear of any place (ie edward less) that is in the practice of rolling back the kms.
  10. AC refrigerant label/type? That would make sense as the car was degassed prior to export. Cheers Try some jap wreckers for the radio, I've found justjap to be good for new oem parts.
  11. Absolutely beautiful! Can someone tell me what the sticker is on the radiator fan shroud with the blue circle/dot? Mine previously had it but no longer. Trying to track one down.
  12. Nah Two kid, wife and a GTR. The wife's Golf GTi makes the perfect runaround. I wouldn't have been able to get the stock exhaust or spare front lip home without it!
  13. Charcoal grey Bride is sitting next to me in the office today. It is a little embarrasing though when a box around 1.6M high arrives at work from Japan and says "Bride" I'm doing everything possible to maintain the car and its originality. To the point of not wearing my wedding ring when I drive it!
  14. Exactly what Terry said. I would strongly recommend the import path if you have the time and money. I admit that I was very lucky but there are a lot more options in Japan then here. Although you will pay a premium (I'd guess around $5K) I often keep an eye on what these guys have in stock; www.best-r.com If you are after a nice car in the long run don't try to save a little cash up front. Get the best car that you can afford. If I had the money and storage this would be it! http://is-group.jp/skyline/011535.html That car is NOT suitable for driving and modifying though. I reaslise how stupid that may sound but as soon as you do either to any exent the value plummets.
  15. As Terry said, Allimports have one with a damaged front end. There's a post on here somewhere listing the numerous problems. Don't know how cheap it will be though.
  16. I'd chatted to Troy (Iron Chef) about a couple of cars but we hadn't bid on or inspected any. Then the perfect car came up for auction the next day. Troy was able to have it inspected prior to bidding and then secured it within budget. Once in Australia it was complianced by JLM (Adam/Todd). The car is currently being detailed by a SAU member back to better than new condition.
  17. If someone runs in the back of you and damages the wing, they may not cover it if its not noted on the policy.
  18. Shannon's will insure the car for whatever you paid. Mods can/should be noted on the policy so they are covered if there is a claim. They won't add them to the agreed value though.
  19. I agree with the kms being dodge. You couldn't get it in japan for that if they were genuine.
  20. Generally speaking the greater the agreed value, the higher premium. In saying that, the bulk of the premium often relates to the type of car (GTR=high risk), age of driver and suburb its garaged. Suburbs can make a pretty big difference. Insurers will also increase/decrease premiums based on their experience as well as the types of risk they want to insure. Years ago nrma jacked up my premium on a 200sx from $2.5K to over $4K. No change at my end. I went in to talk to them and the lady said that instead of saying no they will sometimes increase premiums significantly for cars they don't wish to insure. I went elsewhere.
  21. Agreed value can be a bit of a personal question for some, me included. I could be wrong but the rarer and more valuable the car, the less likely people are to disclose. Feel free to prove me wrong.
  22. Now you're good to go! Better now then when u go to claim.
  23. Could be wrong but I think the insurance needs to be in her name. I can't see you be able to insure let alone get a pay out for a car you don't own. If you think about a house, I don't think you'd be covered or get paid for it if u didn't own it. Let us know how u go Monday.
  24. I got mine through perfect run. Dollar was a bit better back then and I paid $875 delivered.
