  1. And did you use heaps of assembly lube? could be a bearing has nipped up, did it run rough when it was first started?
  2. My rb24 doesnt tend to trail off after 6k, infact it feels like the 7.5k limiter is cutting its lunch, and thats with stock cams, ports, and gears. once theres some cams in the mix it'll be a weapon! personally i think the 24 is well worth it, sure it'll cost you 5k+ to do it properly but you'll have no problems after that if the tune is sweet. i've owned a 31 with a stock rb20 and my hr31 with the rb24 and 2871r and the 24 has more power everywhere, better to drive around town and just generally better behaved (especially since i change the leaking HG ). can't comment on a 25 though, never stepped over to the dark side.. Oh and you definately cant beat the sound of a 24 at full revs! especially with a good exh manifold, the HKS one sounds awsome but the Trust high mount gave me a horse stiffy everytime i wound it out.
  3. fairly firm on price atm mlyf16. if your o2 bung has the same thread as an rb20det o2 sensor then yes, these will bolt straight on. Cheers Karl
  4. thats something they should of done a long time ago. would be even better if they could lengthen the run off to allow the fuelers etc to come back but seeing as there is roads either end of the track it doesnt seem likely.
  5. To be honest that wouldnt surprise me in the least, last i heard they were resurfacing it (for the last 8 months). they've probably stumbled into something..
  6. If only SA had a running drag strip, who knows wtf bob jane is doing down here...
  7. What type of dyno do BD4's use? its amazing how much a good boost controller can effect spool, when we were tuning my car started off doing a run with the controller off and it made 12psi at 4300rpm, took a good 800rpm for boost to go from 3psi to 12psi... then we switched on the controller, did the relearn and it now gets 14psi at 4000, just shoots straight up. averaged a gain of about 40hp from 3k to 4.5k! and thats just a crappy old HKS evc 3.
  8. Who ever said the rb20 couldnt make the numbers eh? if i remeber correctly your running an f-con right silver? did you get the navigator with it? i recently had my car tuned aswell. banged out 220rwkw@14psi before we ran into missfire issues and couldnt push anymore boost into it.. splitfires here we come!
  9. Sounds like your plugs are fouling, either pull them out and have a look or hit the freeway and hold it at 100 in 3rd for a while and see if it clears up the miss.
  10. I've got 3 spare brand new bosch o2 sensors that i need to get rid of. thier the "0 258 007 200" 4.2 LSU sensors that techedge.com sell with some of thier O2 kits. looking for $70 each. Located in adelaide Cheers Karl
  11. PaulR33 used to have the manual on his site (http://paulr33.skylinesaustralia.com/) but the link to it seems to be down. the procedure is turn on ign evc off press and hold SBC button while turning switch at the back of the controller LED will turn on and beep for ~5 seconds after beep stops turn ign off and reset the switch at the back to where you need it (sw for internal gate). then you have to do the self learn again. if you pm me your email i can email the whole pdf to you.
  12. Horn! good to see thier still the front of the pack! even when thier driving like pansies
  13. looks good, nice and responsive. is that using a internal gated housing or ext? boost spikes quite a bit after 6500rpm.
  14. i agree dale, the 56t matched to the rb20/25 housing is definately on the edge. would be even worse on the stock bottom end, i actually order the 52t 2871r in the first place but the workshop i purchased it from sold me a 56t telling me it was the 52t, when i questioned him about it he said he hadnt realised and offered to chase up the proper comp but called me back 2 days later saying it would take him 2-3 weeks to get the wheel in. was sick of his BS by then so i ended up just keeping the 56t. the turbo works really well, just make sure you have the wastegate bored out as much as possible if using any of the nissan housings.
  15. Yep, RIP Peter Brock. looking at those overhead shots of the site it looks like a fairly easy mistake, narrow road and the tree is mere meters from the edge of the bitumen, and from the radio interviews it sounds like he was fairly concerned about the tailiness of the car... sad loss for aussie motorsport no matter who you support.
  16. i will get a graph once i get the tune checked over, i havent got one printed since the headgasket was changed. but had a quick look at the run he did and it had 12psi by ~100kph in 4th. actually it feels really good, mind you i havent really tested it properly as i'm abit unsure how healthy the tune is, but the rb25 housing felt better in regards to response but had surging and boost spiking issues.
  17. Well i've got the 56t 2871 with a vg30 rear on my rb24det atm. it makes 12psi at ~3400rpm and 224rwkws, i've yet to run more boost through it as i've had some dramas with a certain retarded tuner, but i think with the rb25 rear and a 52t comp wheel it'd be a very tidy and easy package for an rb20det. i will hopefully have some better results with lots more boost when i get it retuned by Mildren next week.
  18. Might be a silly suggestion but did they check to see if the BOV wasnt leaking?
  19. Personally i wouldnt run anything less than a 245 on a 9" rim in R compound and especially with RE55's, the bridgies tend to have much stiffer side walls than most semi slicks anyway, so not only will the tyre fitter have a massively hard time getting them on (if at all) but i'd say you'll have alot of trouble with ride quality and will have to run higher pressures to stop them getting nudged off the bead..
  20. Very nice results dude, has it had any headwork done? stock cams? Cheers Karl
  21. I'm going to disagree with the majority and say that for the price of a hks low mount or something with similar flow (i got mine for $550) its definately a worth while upgrade if your changing turbos, everyone is bagging that manifold and saying the stock manifold is fine, but both manifolds use the same log type design, sure they work, but that doesnt mean the theres not big flow gains to be made with a equal length manifold. every bit of extra flow is worth it!
