  1. Full boost around 5000rpm = not too bad?
  2. Awesome, thanks man
  3. Simon - I'd appreciate your thoughts on this. Remember our $ is weak as anything compared to yours if you freak at the price.. I did some road tuning on an R34 RB25DET powered R32 yesterday which is running some Chinese T3/T4 and found the thing was maxed out at 1.1bar, the owner wants 300wkw on pump gas with streetability but like everyone doesn't want to spend thousands - was thinking of suggesting this turbo as an option with 10cm housing if its anything like yours: http://www.drivenperformance.co.nz/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=1810
  4. Might just be the dyno - last time I had mine on a rolling road it was around 284rwkw from memory, a few months ago.
  5. How old is old?? Mine is almost 200,000km and at 1.2bar it goes quite chirpily
  6. I will definitely update this thread when I can find some useful info
  7. Weekday - was at work when they did the run Quite a promising run though, sounds like they have it hooking up nicely
  8. Because they might not make GT42 based power, I'm guessing. The rest of the questions are irrelevant imho as he clearly already has that sized turbo, and must be happy with everything about it but the spool. Rockabilly has a GTR, so your point doesn't relate to him
  9. Just heard the GTR did 7.65 @ 181mph off its fastest ever 60ft on its first run this year today, probably more to come
  10. I hope its really stout, I'd hate for something to go through the turbine - but that has potential to work really really well. Nice, look forward to results!
  11. Man I don't know how I missed this first time, very nice - whats the spec on it?
  12. This will be interesting
  13. There is plenty of independent testing around the place showing pretty tight comparison between Borg Warner and Garrett GT-BB equivalents, sometimes Garretts can come out strong and sometimes the Borgs can. I am saluting one of the American Subaru tuners who has doing a completely straight up non-biased comparison between GT3076R, GTX3076R and EFR7670 turbos on exactly the same car. The GTX3076R was a little laggier than the GT3076R but made more power, the EFR7670 is yet to be dyno tested but apparently feels very good on the road in terms of boost recovery etc.
  14. Hard to say when you don't have a full mod list and boost level/fuel type taken into consideration. I suspect the Kando is running more boost as at 130kph (well before the GT3076R would be choking) the Kando turbo is making more power. At 110kph the GT3076R has 60whp more...
  15. Better the devil you know...
  16. They don't, at least normally - GTX3071R is a different turbo though
  17. The GTX3071R and GTX3076R both always have them
  18. Awesome - looking forward to seeing how that goes, it is definitely what I was sold on until I saw the first results of the GTX mid frame turbos. Good luck, could be interesting
  19. Interestingly one of the local track weapon (bendy stuff!) street cars where I live is an auto Supra with BPU, suspension, good semis and brake pads!
  20. OK. For what its worth, I feel the difference (having had both) between a .63 and .82 is minimal - I run a .82 and don't feel robbed of down low, it has a very nice power delivery. If you are really that worried about a bit of a mix, just get an HKS GT3037 with .68 housing.
  21. Lets put it a more logical way - why do you want to go with the Avo .73a/r housing when there is a housing option which is proven to get the most out of the GT3076R which comes with the turbo? For all I can tell you want to do it just because, because there is no logical reason I can think of. The turbo comes with the Garrett housing, its easy to get a dump pipe made up for it, and most importantly you KNOW its going to work. Not saying the Avo housing won't - but why take the more difficult and expensive option when there is a known quantity? It doesn't make sense to me.
  22. Pump gas GT3582R .82a/r (magenta) versus EFR8374 .83a/r (green) - both T3 open housing on a K20A Honda motor running 1bar of boost - clearly doesn't need huge boost or fancy fuel to give gains, and no more lag.
  23. Haha if I were building one it'd be going in an R33 GTR with LITH as the licence plate on it, I'd probably have won lotto, but you could get a ride if you came and visited NZ
  24. If you are going to run an RB30 to 8000rpm then I'd recommend going a bit bigger than an 8374 - it would be ridiculously torquey on an RB30 but the EFR9180 would guarantee no restriction at the higher rpm, and it will not be laggy. Having the headroom to make near 1000hp on E85 would make an unbelieveable all arounder.
  25. Yeah most definitely not the way I'd go either.
