  1. Congrats on the extra power, and good show manning up with the news etc - it all helps clear things up and make them more useful for future. Might be worth bumping the thread the discussion was had in and clarifying that for people using the search function in future
  2. Not very useful, but I have been told very good things about them... I haven't had such a setup using them but I know of guys running up to near 600whp/25psi/7200rpm (RB30) with them I believe.
  3. Wow interesting! What comparative engine spec? I'm not a fan of the T04Z and I am a fan of GT-RSs so I guess in my head its two better matched turbos against a dinosaur with a nice core. Any chance of sharing the overlay? It would help a LOT of people considering the options. I wish there were more GT40-based setups on RBs to compare with.
  4. Awesome results man, and thanks for sharing - really good to see an overlay between normal pump and E85 on the same car
  5. There is something strangely tantalising about seeing a boost gauge swing up to 1.8+bar in a car running pump gas haha
  6. Drive and enjoy it for a while, and decide what you feel like you are missing most - handling, power, response, or maybe something else turns out to be amiss. Often the next steps from where you are end up with unplanned reasonable amounts of down time and there is no point having that downtime if you aren't working towards where you want to be
  7. Mate I can't imagine, I'd say most of us would struggle not being a bit short with people regardless of whether it was deserved or not. Hope it all settles sooner rather than later, wouldn't wish that on anyone In regards to Rob running a GTR with an H-pattern box down the 1/4, have you seen his first and only effort at running this R34 GTR at the drags?:
  8. Hahahahaha until I read this I didn't realise there was a cunning stunt performed, awesome BTW, it occured to me that this power figure is the highest I've read about on a Dyno Dynamics running 98 without nitrous.... gotta be up there?
  9. My old girl is near 160,000kms and running a GT30R for a good 40,000k of those running 11.5:1 at richest (18psi boost) and still runs strong, last compression test was 5points varience from lowest to highest... some would say 11.5:1 gives a reasonable amount of headroom as it is but its definitely interesting how many ways there are to skin a cat haha.
  10. Before I say anything - please don't take my questions as arguing, more looking to learn by these questions as I do/have done bits and pieces of tuning myself and would rather learn by not making mistakes but more gleaning knowledge from those more experienced etc and you have clearly done more tuning and on high profile cars Isn't the extra cooling and safety margain what going for say mid 11s does as opposed to say ~12:1 or so for full power is for? Will the extra huge dowsing actually cool things that much more that it'd make a difference - and does it do much to help knock resistance? I know from experience with mine the difference between <11.5 and 12.0:1 equals lots of torque, can't imagine going >11.0! If you're worried about high ambient temps, can't temperature compensation features be utilised to find a good inbetween for putting less fuel to suit the less dense air and more fuel for the fact that you want a bit extra cooling? Sorry for the OT, and if its trade secret don't mind me - I gotta try haha.
  11. Almost 2 months with this fix, and now the ignition and boost control has been reliable enough for me to count on it we went out for a road tune for 18psi about 3 weeks ago and the ignition etc is still holding up great. Feels pretty aggressive now!
  12. Haha yeah I wonder where you've seen that Redline performance sell a pretty cheap low mount manifold, one of which a guy I know of has used on his RB20DET powered S13 that goes VERY well (its running an EVO TD05 - its the same running gear from ADIDAN's R32 GTSt which was later crashed, Vanilla Rice) and that seems to work quite well, again unfortunately no dyno results yet but one thing I like about it is it happens to resemble little sketches I had been drawing and sending to people who can fabricate (alas I lack such skills) asking if it were feasable to make up, and if it would work. Its essentially has two 3>1 headers and then 2>1 at the flange allowing something resembling proper collectors to be made up unlike most cheap low mount manifolds. It has the "tubular exhaust manifold" sound and feel to it and certainly hasn't lost anything over the stock manifold and most importantly hasn't cracked yet despite being street driven and run at 20psi so it could be promising. I have been watching with interest for a while.
  13. When you have the set required to drive a 9s street GTR, I hear they're easy to trip up on
  14. I had a DSR one on my Skyline when I went GT30R and it ended up cracking - I got rid of the DSR manifold and have put a stock one back on and can't say I have noticed any difference though will have to hit the dyno at some point to confirm. I obviously prefer the stock manifold given it doesn't fall apart haha
  15. Argh don't speak too soon - I pondered the terminology and I would get Mac to confirm that he is talking about the same thing though, I always took the "Front pipe" bit to be what connects to the rest of the exhaust though he describes it as connecting to the turbo. He has a separate entry for "Extension kit" and no description of what it is, but is advertising it at $690 - or $552. Eek.
  16. Bevan: http://www.fortyone.co.nz/parts/view/16848.html Isn't Mac doing a 20% off thing? That would make that about $380? Not quite so crazy. Or get one of the Ds at Midas to make you one up, I was happy as with my stock turbo one and the one with my GT30R seems to be doing the trick too... both made by Dan.
  17. Thats for the fancy 4WD one like mentioned here - the equivalent of the 240Zs engine is $12450NZ, or just under $10k Australian.
  18. The turbo size isn't to be underestimated of course, a lot of people sell them short imho Regardless it sounds like awesome fun, and there is going to be more in it yet if you get a little more greedy Would love to know how it would go at the strip...
  19. RIPS has been known to spin his up to near 10,000rpm - his 240Z's RB30 has been running standard crank for as long as it has been running and it started off in the 10s and has been working through to low 8s with a LOT of runs under its belt, the stock cranks seem to do ok with proper care etc. Check this out:
  20. Awesome result!! Thats promising stuff for both the turbo and E85 - I can imagine it being fun on the road The boost droppign is really strange, you should be able to get more power/boost out of that car - the fact that the power was still climbing despite boost dropping SURELY indicates there is more compressor in it? Maybe something funny up with the wastegate setup or something? What is the wastegate spring set for? Maybe go straight for a 1.2bar one!
  21. Haha nice work If I remember rightly thats more power than a few of the 9s GTRs in Oz are running, just on 98 octane pump gas? Get some E85 and more revs (the dyno plot implies there is more useable power band to be had) and boost and some MT drag radials on that sucker and I can imagine some pump gas/street tyre records falling!
  22. Given the factory airflow meter and injectors are pretty well useless at those power levels, even though it seems to go pretty good all may not be as well and good as you think. It MIGHT be ok but without checking air/fuel ratios, fuel pressure and knock you may actually be well on a path that you'd rather not be on - you just haven't realised it YET.
  23. Did you get it from GCG or someone along those lines by any chance? And/or is it running a .70a/r compressor cover?? By the "REAL" GT3076R we don't only mean Garrett, we mean the proper 56trim anti-surge one. [edit after seeing Nytskys post] Damn - thats a really promising result, gutted the tuning got interrupted. Good luck sorting that out, and man it sounds like it is on a mission to make some awesome numbers!!!
  24. T51Rs definitely have anti-surge slots, they just have a little bellmouth thing over the inlet that has a gap to allow flow from the slots but covers the slots mostly from view. I can't view youtube at work though am pretty sure this clip shows what mine sounds like with the exact same turbo as NYTSKY's. Real GT3076Rs come with the slots.
