Hahahaha wth, that must be an entertaining drive! I'd say that's the ultimate RB powerband I've seen, for anything that's not a dedicated drag car. I love it, great work man
-
Wow, that is brutal - very nice!!
-
I thought you were looking for an internally gated/bolton style turbo if possible?
-
Awesome, look forward to hearing how this goes - keep us updated It's going to be mental, would make for an awesome overlay for comparisons sake if that's possible! When are you aiming to have it going?
-
The same can be said for a LOT of popular turbos - everything can't be the best, so everything else has something better than it. The Holsets aren't the best out there, but they are far from the worst, and pretty far up there in terms of value for money.... the trick is just doing the research and identifying which ones are the ones which would work for you. They seem solid and reliable, I am still waiting for more real world feedback on them before I form an opinion on their power versus response but one of my mates just got his R33 GTS25t tuned with a billet MP595 and made 330kw @ hubs on 19psi with a respectable power delivery, from what he's said.... will have to try and find out more about how it drives etc. It sounds awesome!
-
Not true, there are Holsets which perform very well on performance petrol motors- you have to get the right combos but there are varieties of HX35 which have been used very successfully on RB25s- I very nearly bought one instead of the GT3076R, only reason I didn't was I at the time figured I didn't want an external wastegate/aftermarket manifold setup.

Not sure what you are doing wrong here, but that certainly isn't what I am finding... It is the same or better the more ethanol there is -

BTW - this relies partly on the guy going GTX3067R having results that I suspect it is capable of. He did go E85. Took me about 30seconds to find this : http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/55845-rb25-turbo-upgrade-all-dyno-results/page-39#entry6095846 -

^ depends on dyno and the rest of the setup - but given this seems to be "simplest setups" I agree, and also lean towards the feeling that an "honest" (ie, a realistically safe tune on Dyno Dynamics dynos without an external wastegate, no crazy loud exhaust and stock manifolds etc) 300rwkw low mount turbo in general on BP98 is probably a bit of a tall ask. It's even doing OK to go much over 300kw on a hub dyno with that kind of setup, imho. In that respect, I lean towards the idea of the GTX3067R-GTX3071R range being not a bad option for a just basic boltons car which is fast, usable and reliable -
OK - the fact he recommended an EBC is a huge hint, if it's not holding the boost he wants and it's making respectable power for the boost it is running at peak power then that is a pretty big indicator I reckon. Holding more boost at higher rpm = holding more torque at higher rpm = more power
-
My thoughts too. If nothing else the tuner can TRY and hold a steady boost level to redline - if they try and hold 20psi and they run into flow issues or holding boost issues they SHOULD be able to build a bit of a picture of which area of the setup is starting to hold things back. My feeling at this stage that you may be getting near the limit of this kind of combo and are probably already making decent power - though the bleed valve could be exasperating this. As I asked in PM, what discussions have you had with your tuner about it? They will have more of a perspective than any of us on how the setup is behaving... we're just taking pot shots from what you have shared.

Look for FP Green HTA results on EVOs, it's that housing/wheel combo but with a TD06 hotside - you should still be able to get an idea of the compressor flow. As a hint, the numbers are ones that GTX3076R peeps should be content with in many cases.

[Closed] Borg Warner Efr Series Turbos

It is EFR discussion - doing twin scroll and doing it well is one of the bigger advantages EFR turbos have over the likes of the GTX range. -

Funny you should say all that actually, it looks like you can get the FP-proprietory comp housing for the GT3073HTA as an option now - which we know sounds very much like a GT3076R (Mick_O's EVO with a 73HTA Green bolton sounds awesome!) and it's also more compact etc, meaning it should be able to fit that bit easier in the stock location. I have said it before, but the 3073HTA I think would be bungfizzingly fun on an RB25

Yep Geoff, definitely sounds like the same guy - I was suspicious that it may have had leaks or other issues going by the things that he said, it was making poor power (a couple of my mates have made more on EFR8374s on less serious motors and far less boost) and not responding amazingly well.... but one way or another they work clearly making it work at 110+% to try and get results from it. I can't help but feel a bit like there is conspiracy there, anytime those guys get something non-Precision there are weird issues that no one else gets which come up. -

Lithium replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Indeed. Though in fairness while I would pick a different turbo for my needs, my little crystal ball suggests that a GTX3067R on stock manifolds and engine on E85 would make a pretty impressively quick all around usable car. -

Nice, it should be really responsive What dyno is it being tuned on? Do you have a power target on that fuel? -

Nice - what turbine housing and fuel are you going to be running with it? This has potential to be quite interesting -

Bah, it's not the cams are too big - it's the bottom end is too small -
Does Compressor Size Radically Effect Lag/ Performance?
Lithium replied to Bennis's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
You are quite right, we don't. Want to help fix that issue by telling me where in those links it shows what affect on lag and response there is between the two compressors? -
