  1. Are the first R32s fifteen years old already? I thought not till next year? What was the date of production start? thx J
  2. right, of course J
  3. Compression test also checks side seals (as those also hold compression). So it gives you a very good idea of the engine condition as far as the rotor seals go. For the coolant and oil seals, watch the tailpipe. J
  4. Smoke on cold start is bad. A >little< blue smoke probably okay, white smoke not happy (unless it's chilly out, then it'll do it anyway). Make sure you do a compression test, make sure it idles smoothly. If the transmission seems a little loud it's probably okay yet, but disturbingly loud means a rebuild is due. Check for rust under the rear seats and around the hatch opening. More than that . . . ask on www.nopistons.com or www.rx7club.com J
  5. I was thinking as well, with only one wastegate you will very likely have boost creep problems. Lag might be an issue as well as the turbine size and a/r ratio is designed to have 2L of displacement running it, not 1L. Be interesting to see how it works though. J
  6. www.ausrotary.com and www.nopistons.com are good as well J
  7. jzx90 came out in 1992. http://toyota.mnc.ru/framno/JZX90.html J
  8. It is true that the reduction in compression ratio more than makes up for the loss in squish. However using dished pistons and keeping the squish would allow you to run a slightly higher CR thus improving low-end response. J
  9. re: thick headgaskets . . . another consideration is that the squish areas around the edge of the combustion chamber are a great help in preventing detonation. With a thicker headgasket you basically eliminate those squish areas. J
  10. What's the biggest you can make an RB30 anyway? I heard somewhere 3.6L??? Talk about a torque monster . . . J
  11. Have a look at this thread on Nissan Forums http://www.nissanforums.com/showthread.php...=&threadid=8979 HTH J
  12. Much better. Now for some practise J
  13. I've tried it, couldn't quite figure out the controls though . . . I needed brakes, for staging, couldn't find them anywhere! If you find out, say so - it's pretty cool other than that. J
  14. Considering that the n/a engine it has already has just as much power as the RB25DET, I somehow doubt it. J
  15. I've seen that picture somewhere else, but now I can't remember where. I had thought it was in one of my magazines covering the Tokyo Auto Show. I'll see if I can dig it up. J
  16. Sorry to disappoint the experts but this one is for real, no photoshop J
  17. try an R32 GT-R how did you get a 1990 R31 anyhow? cheers J
  18. Has anyone tried the Ogura Racing Clutch clutches? Seems all the big name Japanese tuners use them - very pricey though. J
  19. It is a mustang Apparently the main reason the R33 wasn't the hero car in the first movie was that they couldn't get enough of them in time for the making of the movie - they went through six Supras (scares me that I actually know this stuff) J
  20. Anyone know some good English websites about these things? I've seen meggala's. We can import them this year, hurrah! J
  21. yup good site J
  22. Ah, that works It's a very fast server, I dl it at about 80Kb/s
  23. It's about 11MB. Try this link http://209.51.159.2/~rx7vids/vosko/bridgep...rtburnout-2.wmv Apparently the Judge figures that with some more tuning and a wee spot of nitrous he can get 400rwhp - that would certainly be the most powerful non-turbo six-port ever!
  24. Turbo FCs are pretty scarce in North America, mostly we got the six-port engines - now the great Judge Ito has figured out how to bridge-port a six-port motor - check it out bridgey FC video
