R32 GTR front bar on GTS-t?
StraightSix replied to StraightSix's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
OK I have one more n00b question on this subject and then I'm done - does a GT-R cooler fit behind a standard GTS-t front bar? thx J -
R32 GTR front bar on GTS-t?
StraightSix replied to StraightSix's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
That's the thing, we never got these cars originally so there is no one local . . . Matt Porritt at GTR Shop in NZ has taken an interest in serving our market, I may see what he has to offer. Cheers J -
R32 GTR front bar on GTS-t?
StraightSix replied to StraightSix's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Thanks Mark, I'll check it out. J -
How well does it fit? Anyone care to post a pic? Thanks Jason

Turbo centre section I'd say. J

which would you rather have?
StraightSix replied to StraightSix's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Wow someone revived this thread :birdie: ( As a matter of fact I have never had a turbo car before - actually never had a car with more than 135hp! - so between that, the fact that I might be doing a bit of drifting, and probably not wanting to put a lot of $$$ into the car, and GT-Rs being a bit more expensive than I thought they would be (you guys are driving the prices up - quit it! ) - in short, I've decided to go with the GTS-t. And I'll probably not be putting $10k into it after I buy it (yeah I know, famous last words); at the moment, I'm thinking wheels, coilovers, intake, exhaust, FMIC and a tune, so that's about $5k give or take, with some canny shopping possibly needed. Not too bad for something that will be able to embarrass 99% of imports and a high percentage of musclecars as well And of course if I get a serious need for speed later I will drop in an RB30DET and blow away everyone Cheers Jason -
Tell you what, we have our annual big do (the "World of Wheels") in a bit less than a month from now - it's a big indoor car show - I'll post a huge pic thread then, so you can see what's happening, what people are into, and so on - a picture is worth etc. Cheers J

Bike Riders Advice Please.. R6 or CBR 600RR
StraightSix replied to N/A®'s topic in General Automotive Discussion
If you're "not a good rider at all", get a Suzuki SV650S instead! R6 and CBR600RR are practically racebikes with lights and need lots of skill to get the best out of them. J -
Time for NA Power, the wait is over.....
StraightSix replied to NA_R33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
That is going to be a seriously cool car. Japanese muscle -
That's the plan US doesn't have a 15 year rule like we do though, they have to wait 25 years before cars are considered antiques - heh heh suckers I think its more of a cultural thing than anything else . . . when import tuning first became popular here, Hondas were extremely popular especially among Asian families - not stereotyping or anything, just how it was - so, you get into cars as a young guy, you tend to stick with what you grew up with. Hence a lot of done up Hondas, and more than a few seriously quick ones. I think the quickest Honda in my province (Manitoba), which is by no means known for import tuning, runs mid to low 11s. It's funny, they're probably the lowest performance imports out of the box, but because they were so popular for so long, you can build them up like Lego. So many parts available. Everything from simple bolt on turbo kits to get 170-ish hp out of your D16, to insane 250hp n/a B-series crate engines . . . and yeah, a stock GT-R will have most of them for lunch Hondas are losing popularity a bit actually, Nissans are on the rise Sorry for the ramble J

Hm, well, not much to say about Skylines at the moment as the first ones will be arriving in May. We can't import anything not originally made for Canada or the US unless it's fifteen years old. So we will soon be having quite a few R32s As for the rest of the scene, where I'm at it's mostly domestic stuff drag racing - pretty similar to much of Australia from what I gather. Imports are gaining in popularity quite a bit though, as is autocross - have yet to have our first drift day though here, that is really new, but a couple of the major centres (read: Toronto) have had some drift events . . . we're catching up, I think The link in my sig is to the first Skyline forum in Canada, I originally started it as a mailing list, then in January we moved to a web forum that one of the guys started. Cheers Jason

If anything, you'd gain power, because the flow off the wastegate wouldn't be interfering with the flow off the turbine like it does on an internally gated turbo (unless your downpipe is designed better than most!) Cheers Jason

This is a cool thread :uh-huh: hope it works out as planned! Just thinking, would nitrous have any place in a car like this? Even if you were to use it to spool the turbos, since you're using a manual trans and can't really leave the line under boost. J

Well we have a 15 year rule here in Canada as well, and it isn't changing - I have a feeling quite a few guys are going to get drift beaters unawares J

Hey guys I'm just starting to get back into studying and just beginning with the kanji . . . I'm finding http://japanese.about.com/blkodarchives.htm very useful. They have the kanji up to grade 5 level, with stroke order, common compounds, and wav files so you can get the pronunciation right . . . also if I ever get around to upgrading my handheld to a colour unit I mean to get KingKanji from http://www.gakusoft.com/ , you can write the kanji on the screen and it corrects you as you go. Cheers Jason

rb20det - will gt-r turbos and manifolds fit?
StraightSix replied to StraightSix's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
OK I see. Thanks for the info. I think for me doing this might make sense because there will be quite a few GT-Rs coming into Canada (15 year rule) and I imagine a lot of them will be ditching their stock turbos. Cheap bits for me Also if I were to upgrade to a larger single, I'd want to get a better manifold anyway, and the GT-R manifolds are pretty good. Cheers J -
rb20det - will gt-r turbos and manifolds fit?
StraightSix replied to StraightSix's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
So as far as the manifolds go it's just a matter of redrilling a couple of holes? Regarding the downpipe, would an exhaust made for a GT-R fit? Thanks, Jason -
Just wondering if there is a tube header available for the RB20DET with single turbo. Reason I ask is that I was just re-reading A. Graham Bell's "Forced Induction Performance Tuning" (great book btw) and in the practical examples chapter there is an RB20 powered S13 mentioned, and he says the stock turbo would be able to do better than it does now if it had a proper tube header - he seems to think the stock manifold is very restrictive. Anyone imported a 15+ year old car under new scheme?
StraightSix replied to esprit's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Well that's different to what we have up here in Canada then, the cars have to be exactly 15 years old according to the build date to import them here. J -

StraightSix replied to esprit's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I see. Was getting a little worried here, first I hear about an R32 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, then people here are talking about buying 15-year-old R32s already, and I'd been telling everyone August next year was the magic number . . . by the way what was the R33 start date, for the GTS-t? They preceded the R33 GT-R by a couple years did they not? J
