  1. Ive never had dealings with RIPS/Rob, but am constantly hearing/seeing countless remarks of praise like the above for his work/attitude/service/value, goes without saying that id like to get an engine off him one day just for the experience let alone the awesome custom fab work! As for the stock-stroke Rb26 that i want for my GTS-t, Paul seems like the man for that one
  2. Rb25DET torana, nice conversion, with a bit of tweaking you'll surely embarrass some import guys big time. What diff you gonna run? dont say the ol' bango
  3. Sorry this wont ease your mind, but if your cars coming up to 90k kms, its a safe bet that its already well past that figure. You didnt mention looking at secondhand options? There are usually some good HKS stuff around that may suit your budget, look around and see if you can find something nice, maybe even a used GCG highflow. Sure its used, but you could end up with a more responsive and better quality turbo
  4. another +1 for pics! can someone scan in the article? i dont have easy access to aussie mags at the moment
  5. what is the Tomei kit rated at? My HKS step 2 full kit with crank, rods and pistons ended up costing me AUD$7500 all inclusive, which was a damn good price a few years ago when i bought it.
  6. that certainly is awesome, a non drag dedicated car built for circuit running an easy 9! certainly makes me think i dont need the 850hp rated turbo im sticking on my 2.8!
  7. ^9's from a T04z? id think youd need a dedicated and extremely well setup car in order to pull that (but i guess when your talking 9's your gonna have to have a pretty damn good setup none the less)
  8. In answer to your question, obviously functional quality of a decat pipe wont vary much, but there are definite differences in quality of materials and fit and finish among many of these so called "bolt-in" pipes.
  9. As mentioned if money is not a problem then purchase an OS RB30! There are quite a few running stroker cranks of some kind here, (im hoping to be able give my own feedback soon from my build) Maybe those that have them running could comment on the real world gains from the extra stroke - can you even tell your driving a 2.8 vs a stock stroke?! I went for the stroker crank because i liked the idea of the extra counterweighting and am hoping for real smooth revver, not so much expecting massive torque increase for driveability- although most companies claim that the cranks make a significant improvement in response and torque. Also strokers were few and far between when i purchased my kit, which made the build that bit more exciting As mentioned, you dont need to look at strokers for going fast down the track, it would more depend on your intended amount of street usage.
  10. Not saying rent isnt expensive, but you certainly dont need 9grand+ to get good accomodation here! You can get yourself a sweet resort style condo with full facilities for half that, and depending on location even cheaper. (On the other side of the coin you can pay over 15grand for a relatively small place in a fancy area) The beer, depending on location, so far i havent had to pay S$18 the low tax here is awesome, not sure if ill be able to go back to Aus tax rate! only drawback for me is the lack of cheap import sports cars! Anyway back on topic, Whilst i think that the GTR is cheap for what it does, 150+grand is still a lot of money in the majority of peoples books. Picking up a clean 3-5yr old example should represent some awesome supercar buying opportunity!
  11. furthermore to adz2332's above question, if the computer wants to send power to the front wheels, does it affect power at the rear, or if there is no shaft in place will it even try to send power up front?
  12. If you want a street car with balls, id suggest looking into a HKS T04z kit with the 0.8 rear. Garret version if your on a tighter budget. Any half decent rb26 rebuild should support its power and will get you an easy 400rwkw with suitable support mods, with a good deal more potential if you want it. Much more sensible than the 3037s but still plenty of grunt to put a smile on your face
  13. Hi mate, i recently bought an OS giken 1.5way from greenline for my S1 33gts-t, and encountered the same problem as you. At first we thought we had been delivered the wrong diff, but checked and it was correct. we ordered the appropriate new half shafts from nissan. A small note explaining the half shaft requirements should be included in the online item description, would have saved me some time! i think you can use 32gtr half shafts, but then you will need 32gtr rear drive shafts if im not mistaken. cheers.
  14. HKS 2835Pros Kit. will net you up to 450+engine HP if you want, and it doesnt sacrifice much if any drivability.
  15. 350rwkw in a 32 gts, thats gotta be a hoot! what speed do you need to be going before you can give it WOT without wheelspin?!
  16. thanks for the recommendations, it seems 4inch is the go. the last remaining question is are there any nice off the shelf 4 inch systems? As mentioned i have heard of an HKS 4inch system, but i cant find it, or any other 4inchers available, only 3.5's. cheers!
  17. hi mate i believe kings make springs basically the same as the whitelines and should be available off the shelf locally or at least easy to get. When i was doing my spring research, the consensus was that the kings/lovells/whiteline low springs were basically the same. correct me if im wrong, as it was some time ago and was in relation to GTS-t not GTR. cheers btw, what effect does dropping the fronts only have on handling?
  18. Hi Brad Hopefully i will find out very soon. My engine dyno session is long overdue, should be close! cheers
  19. i wasnt planning on one. ive only heard one whilst running against another car. hearing it from inside my car it sounded dodgy, cant really say tho as ive only heard the one.
  20. to clarify, this was not done or obtained through UAS. fairly sure mines the little 0.63, hence the 280rwkw wall. i finally found the flow results. did someone say Andrew Sanders?!
  21. Just to clarify, 800 flywheel HP. so looking at the over-600hp at the wheels range. turbo is rated at 850HP. 400kw, a twin 3inch system sounds like a lot of flow! How loud is your setup, any muffled sections or is it a race setup?
  22. it may be some time until i get the graph but will see what i can do. Spoke to my engine builder today and he thinks the same, that with a bigger turbo you would most likely see differences compared to the stock mani. dont quote me as im not sure (was a long time ago) from memory just over $400? And was done buy a place in melbourne i think, if anyone can dig up the original thread there should be the details... ill have another look.
  23. I couldnt find the thread in which i posted the extrude honed manifold flow results(??), if anyone can find it please link. I found another thread and will follow on from this.. "There is one bloke. I forget his alias. Orange R33 in his Sig. I believe he had UAS power port/extrude hone his std exh. manifold but he is/was oversea's so he was unable to test. He's running a gt2835 and currently making up around 280rwkw. I'm very keen on seeing his results. Maybe UAS could shed some light on if the extrude honed std exh. manifold allows it to push considerably more than the 300rwkw brick wall the std exh. manifold usually see's." Well the car has just been dynoed, and..... no power increase at all. I havent seen the dyno sheet as im still overseas, but from what i heard from my brother was that they played around with it for ages in search of more, but came up with nothing. If anything it made the same power at slightly less boost im told. It is certain that the extrude honed manifold flows more, and i think the lack of results is most likely due to the turbo itself, maybe even the wastegate issue that many people mention (but personally i just think its out of puff). Seeing that the 2835 is not commonly known to push up and past 300rwkw, id really need to put a 3037 on there to see if the stock manifolds brick wall can be pushed. I know many were eagerly awaiting these results, its a shame theres nothing exciting to share, cheers
  24. Exhaust threads seem to be in fashion at the moment so ill throw in this query. What do people usually run on a street car making 800+HP? (btw not implying i expect it to make legal volume!) I was thinking i'd benefit from a 4inch system, yet I have looked at all the Jap systems on most of the popular websites, and havent found anything larger than 3.5inch. The question would then be, will an unrestrictive 3.5inch system hold back power potential? The setup in question is a single turbo RB28. Looking at the recent custom exhaust thread, custom could be the way to go, but for simplicity id rather a system i can just bolt in. I have heard of a 4inch HKS system, but cant find any details. Im aware that its gonna be noisy. thanks for any help
