yeah, i had just begun looking for a low mount manifold for a GT30R, and so far i have only been able to find the cheap china types.. this is why projects like this are so expensive, you change one thing, that leads to another, then you find some nasty surprises along the way but it IS an experience!

well, i thought it was going to be a fairly cheap project, maybe $2k for the car, $3k in engine, a bit of hands on, and a mechanic mate lending a hand, but it has turned out to be everything but... i am up and over $15k now, and i havn't even got the body painted or the engine in of course it would help if you chose a plan and stuck to it (i went from RB25DE/RB30E hybrid, to an RB20DET, finally to an RB25DET), i spent so much money on buying "cheap" parts i thought i would need in the future, and then the plan changes and they are a waste. i would imagine for a shop to do the conversion for you, you would be looking at over $4k in labour... then there is engineering etc. not for the faint harted, or for those on a budget! there is always the option of getting an L28 from a 280Z or turbo a L28?

SK (sorry for bringing up this thread again), i just changed the headgasket and now putting back on teh cams etc. and i am trying to change the timing belt on my RB25DET engine which is currently sitting on the floor (out of the engine bay), I have a manual gearbox attached, new flywheel and clutch etc. but i don't have a drivetrain yet that i can use to stop the flywheel moving I don't want to shove a bar or similar into the flywheel through the starter motor hole, and similarly, i don't want to take the gearbox off. I can't work out how i can get the bolt out of the harmonic balancer (last one i took out took a LOT of force (again sitting on the floor, trying to keep the flywheel locked with a steel bar) any ideas on how i can keep the flywheel locked while i try and remove the harmonic balancer? can you buy the ring gear locking tools anywhere (a quick search of the net doesn't show anything)?, i have a no frills air ratchet on a 2HP compressor, but i doubt it has enough force to sneak up on the bolt. -

Hi Guys, i am looking at using some rear R34 calipers for my datsun, i havn't been able to find a picture of the calipers by them selves so i can see how the handbrake mechanism works. can anyone supply photo's of them for me? it would be greatly appreciated. Are the R34 and R33 rear calipers the same? i noticed the dba discs are

there is a place in melbourne t has the moulds for the flairs, goto www.classiczcars.com and check out the 240K section for details and pricing (don't have them handy here), i won a rear wing and front "bib" and hopefully a GTR grill from yahoo jp. when i get them in OZ, i am going to send them down to the guy in melbourne to make a mould of just incase mine ever get damaged, but that could be a while. currently there are no known moulds of these in OZ.

nope, not an easy fit, but doesn't seem to be rocket science. i am putting an RB25DET into a C110 at the moment (same crossmember as teh C210). VL/RB25/RB20 mounts do not fit, custom ones have to be made. mine is sitting really low (around 1 cm clearence from the xmember), but there is still around 10cm clearence between the firewall. Rear mount (gearbox) also sits a fair way back, we tried hacking up the stock mount to look a bit like a u shape, but that means my gearbox is sitting insanely low (lowest point of the car, probably not legal). going to try and rig up the gearbox with a 240Z gearbox mounting tabs and mounting bar. i am also using a greddy intake plenum to save height (esp when i put a sway bar on) and to simplify piping. check out www.classiczcars.com, i have a few pics in there in teh 240k section. certainly not a cheap and easy job then you need to look at brake upgrades etc. (btw. i have a set for sale of red powdercoated Z32 NA calipers and rear R31 disks and calipers if your doing a conversion )

surprise surprise, i am still yet to receive my money back from Wayne. Lots of promises (first to refund me to my bank account, and then as if nothing had happened, to send me a money order, guess what.. i havn't received a thing!) but absolutely nothing to show for it.. Has anyone else had any luck getting anything back out of this con artist? -

Dennis, you shouldn't really be bitching on about this in this thread, take it up with christian via email. I am sure that you could appreciate that with over 21 THOUSAND users, it is totally unreasonable for christian to keep track and answer every single question or opinion. As a mod, we get enough of them, Christian gets thousands more.. and on top of this he has to put his own time and effort into maintaining and upgrading the site. he doesn't do this for money, but for the love of the skyline community and he does a damn good job about it... it is harsh but if you don't like it then there are a number of other forums out there to join. Fact is SAU is a great community, and you should be thankfull that christian started it, not saying SAU is screwed because 1 issue that you have (out of how many site wide?) has not been answered, yes christian is hard to get hold of (even for me ) but atleast he is constantly upgrading and improving the site, not letting it just go to the dogs. it is the typical situation of people not realising how much time, money and effort goes into a site like this. now please stop the off topic posting, keep it on track have you considered that the problem may infact be related to your internet conenction? it is probably timing out or not getting through your ISP's caching servers properly. I am sure if every single user has this issue it would have been evident long before now. -

Unfortunately i am heading in a different brake direction now and have the following for sale! i would prefer to keep the front parts together, and the rear parts together, but i will sell the DBA rotors seperately. Pair of Nissan 300ZX Non-Turbo 4 piston Alluminimum 26mm calipers 300ZX calipers sandblasted and powdercoated red set of 300ZX caliper seals paid $400 total, sell for $270 Pair of Nissan R31 Pintara single pot calipers calipers sandblasted and powdercoated in red brand new set of R31 caliper seals Set of used R31 pintara rotors set of brand new Ferodo Extra Pads 2x brand new DBA Slotted 616 rotors paid $568 total, sell all for $450, DBA rotors for $250, rest for $200 (the cost of the powdercoating and the new pads!) located in sydney, calipers have not been used since powdercoating

and how about my money? i too would like it returned... you have STILL offered no proof that you sent the fan blades to me ($10 for blades, $10 for postage)... so i want my money refunded.. i have since bought the blades and a fan clutch from another member in QLD, and postage totalled, $6... this was including the extra weight of the fan clutch so don't give me any rubbish on not giving you enough to pay for insurance... i honestly don't see were you are coming from, in regards to peter, you admit you have his money, and you didn't give sell the items to him, so why not just simply return his money (along with MINE!), you are certainly proving your untrustworthyness more and more i will pm you through my account details, and i will notify this forum once i have recieved my money back -
