  1. it looks like its a SAFC not a boost controller. take it to a tuner to play with.
  2. you will find your answer if you search. RB26dett's are easy to get. the one you neeed for your car are hard to get and are very expensive, $1600 or so.
  3. ahhhduuugerrguuuggerrs sound better =)
  4. there was a guy on the M5 forums that posted up something like this. Don't repeat it.
  5. i heard its not a good idea to do the ex manifold because it traps the heat in and causes higher heat? not 100% sure about it
  6. Item:GT3540 .82 rear NEW housings Age:3 years Condition: used - needs rebuild Price:$500 To Fit:anything you want (What car) Location:Newcastle Contact:PM please Comments: This turbo has been on my car for 2 years and done me well, made 363rwkw on 24psi, It has a bearing noise and it needs to be rebuilt, the rear wheel does not look very good either so it might need a replacement. I purchased a new turbo for $1700 and used my old housings Will cost around $600 - $1000 to get it rebuilt depending on who you get to do it. Has 2 brand new housings front and rear and would suit someone who needs to mod a XR6 turbo with the .82 rear and .70 front to suit there skyline. The housings are worth $450 for front, and $770 for rear new by themself. Also has the Speed flow fittings you need for oil and water lines as pictured, they are around $35 each new Its on ebay for start price $400 but will end it for a good offer http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...E:IT&ih=017 So yeah its worth $500 to sell. Also there is a rb25det ss high mount for sale needs small repair, $70 + post
  7. it means ! fully sick ulley
  8. my engine has 119.1 120.2 121.3 122.4 123.5 124.6
  9. dont go more then 38 deg timing. It causes the cyl's to heat up and when you hit it the engine will knock
  10. what if you got 120 in each cyl ?
  11. how does it feel on the street? some of the time because your running a big auto box and stallie it might not be getting full load on the dyno. Does it feel like its only got 200ish rwkw on the street or does it fry the tyres? You might need to f**k with the ramp settings on the dyno so you can get proper dyno runs, also the rear wheels could be spinning?
  12. im selling a brand new .82 rear housing for a GT3540, $350 +post. external gated let me know if interested cheers
  13. I was just giving an example of what money i have spent to support the RB30. power does not come cheap. I would sell and never buy another fast car again. Buy a house instead
  14. if your going to rev it hard its a good idea to get a good harmonic balancer
  15. When your doing a power run, the tuner will know the coil packs are having troubles keeping up by how the engine miss's. if you run the car up on the dyno and make power with no issues you know they are OK. I think i remember beer baron saying that on the HKS drag car they still run the stock coil packs, they are better then split fires when they are in good condition. So take your chances, they might turn out to be all ok.
  16. run the car on the dyno, if they break down replace them. if they don't then keep them.
  17. from start to finish i would have to say that i have spent over 25grand in the last 5 years fixing f**k ups rebuilding engines etc etc Here are some of the costs i can think of that i have spent forged bottom end, $5000 turbo & manifolds setup $4,500 injectors computer fuel system etc $3000 ahhh man im gettin depressed now. anyone want to buy my car? cheap
  18. you should use ACL race series bearings, my first rb30det spun a bearing and i used nissan bearings. the rods and pistson will be ok for 320rwkw, just tune them rich. ARP rod bolts are a must!!
  19. Well some things that need attention may be. Fuel system, will there be enough for the bigger engine ? Turbocharger?? may run out of puff earlier and drop power in higher revs Breathing - you need to have much bigger breathers for the bigger engine and oil catch can system (new fittings in cam covers) Engine height, you will need to re-make engine mounts or find other means of lowering the engine or modding the bonnet and more room is required in the R32 then R33. If you change to a foward facing plenum then thats a big expense as well as the cooler piping will need to be remade. Power steering bracket may need attention Exaust dump pipe will need to be modified because the different length and if your unlucky the cooler piping will need to be modded. Water lines for the turbo / oil lines, can you bend them into place without breaking them? I just replaced mine with speed flow fittings and lines, they aint cheap. just a few things that may come up. I just dont think its worth doing unless you have wrecked your RB25 and you were going to rebuild anyway. I do realise he is a mechanic and can do all this stuff himself, go for it. I am just trying to point out its not as easy as it looks. Maybe he should try running a external device to trigger the VCT if he wants some of his mid range back, it will be much cheaper that way. One thing i noticed when going the RB30DET is that it seemed to shit out engine mounts often.
  20. i had this problem, i moved the AFM inside the front bar and its fine as well.
  21. send me a pic of the inspection hole on the side of the block when your finished tuning it. I neeed cheering up.
  22. i sometimes wonder why people try and fix something that aint broke.... any ideas?
  23. I can agree with those comments, although there are plenty of rb25's with 300rwkw and he only wants 280rwkw. Everyone has different needs, this guy is going to keep the stock rb30 bottom end, and there is nothing wrong with his RB25 so I suggest to keep the RB25 and spend the money on something else. just my opinion on the matter, if i could go back from day one, i would have had no modifications untill i saved enough money up for a r33 rb26 and whacked it in and gone for gold, but my case is different because the build just got out of hand and its making alot more power then i ever expected to make, I only wanted 300rwkw but a drunk night at the club saw me put a deposit on a mates gt3540 which was a poor turbo choice for what i wanted and everything else had to be upgraded to accomodate for it
  24. Hey Mafia With rod bolts 320rwkw will be fine, just keep the tune fat and you wont have any issues. I wouldnt do it if i were you, there are many hidden costs that bite you in the ass. IF your going to upgrade then upgrade dont bother with the RB30
