An Alternative Ecu Choice Worth Considering.
Guilt-Toy replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah... times have changed man... ECU technology is not what it was 10 years ago, these things run awesome... I tuned the late model Nissan G37 coupe with a rb30det in it with the e420d 2 nights ago, and it runs like a charm!! the diff ratio is really bad so it does about 240km/h in 3rd gear at 7.1k rpm take the car to a decent tuner who is willing to work with you, that guy seems like he does not need your business or something ?? good luck bro, dont bother upgrading, all my cars run wasted spark, and my street car runs semi seq injection with the adaptronic and its great. cheers -

took my mates R35 GTR for sale, what a beast of thing it is... this is the car we were doing the twin turbo GTX30 kit on last year, i think i posted some pics in this thread back when we were building it. running only .8 bar boost in this video, and a max of 1.1 bar because the transmission and engine is still standard, but the turbo kit is capable of pushing some serious power once everything is upgraded. this car is for sale for $71,000 USD http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=418912851538547&set=vb.369080323188467&type=2&theater -

20k worth... damn... which ones do you sell the most of ? i only buy a max 3 at a time... have you tried the dash's ? -
I got some ECU's i want to sell, Vi-Pec GTS plugin board, with 4 bar map sensor onboard, i used this for 3 months in my own car and removed it to try another ecu in very good working condition. $1200 + post RB26DETT Power FC, ECU only, no hand controller. $700 + post Autronic 500r CDI unit, have the unit only no wire or connector but you can grab it from Autronic for $35, tested working good. selling for $700 DD only please, pickup not available unless you want to jump on a plane. Fedex shipping takes 3 days with tracking and is very reliable and costs around $65 Can add a profec b spec II boost controller for an extra $150 to someone buying one of the ecu's, not worth shipping it on its own though.

Boost Leak Testing (Twin Apexi Pods) - New To Gtr's
Guilt-Toy replied to djrobertshaw's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
you had alot of pressure in there for the dipstick to come out, before the dipstick came out did you hear any hissing or any leaking coming from anywhere? put water all on the hoses / clamps and see if you see any bubbles. -

so after the rebuild, i re-tuned the rb30dett in the 350z. i used these cheap pistons, they are called Endurotec. i got some oversized and used the molly rings as well... i was worried that they would not be up to the task but they seem to running great so far! done about 3500km and tuned the car to about 420hp at the wheels on 21psi. Not bad for $220 pistons here is the dyno graph of the new tune, its really rich but i am bit suss about this dyno's wideband sensor. i made about 10 runs, and logged them all, also have some logs of giving a bit on the street.. willing to share the tune and the logs with anyone who is interested... i might try and upload it all the adaptronic forum and link it here ?? il get to that in the next few days. -

for the boost control, just wire the power through a switch to the sol. that way you can disable it and run wastegate pressure anytime you like. -
Will Microtech To Suit Rb25 Run An Rb20?
Guilt-Toy replied to INFLYTmelb's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
you can still get the microtech right if you know what you are doing.. i have had a few come to me here where i was able to fix the tune to make the car usable on the street. they are not that bad of a thing if you know how to set them up and tune them PROPERLY. I would rather a Microtech then any piggy back system, and some other ecu's as well. yeah Mick, let me know when you are in Abu Dhabi -

it will work by just plugging it in, then you need a good tune. good luck getting these things right is a pain in the ass. -

by all means don't try and fix something that aint broke! a properly tuned power fc is great. if you need the extra options of a decent aftermarket ecu then you should upgrade. -

IMO it tunes better then a motec, and just as good as a autronic. yes the price is what makes this ecu so impressive, the basic is less then $1000. -

Yes this is correct, I have not had to use a trigger disk with the Adaptronic yet, my R32 GTST with a cammed rb30det has a Vi-pec plug in, and i had to use a trigger disc to get it to rev over 6300rpm It would be a awesome test to go back to the 360 optical disc and replicate the issue then install the adaptronic to see if it really is immune ??? it would seriously impress me if did fix the issue because when you think about, to read a slot every 1 deg at 6500 you need to have some awesome wiring and fast ecu to keep up with it all, especially with a long belted rb30 with cams etc etc??? I don't think i can do this because it would take too much time right now, and I don't want to remove the ecu from my street car, its running too good to change it. Another cool thing i loved about the latest beta firmware, when i upgraded my injectors on the 350z to Injector Dynamics 1000cc, there was a dropdown box, select ID1000 and off you go! I did not even have to re-tune the car from the old injectors! the injector settings in the software did everything for me. -

i am pretty sure (could be wrong though) that the plugin version of the rx8 ecu was the first revision, and that they were working on a full replacement version, it might be even available now? id ask on the forums if you really need to know -

its funny you guys asking all these questions, as it just brings out more stuff that impressed me about the ecu, Peak and hold drivers available even on the basic ecu! and it can even run 6 cyl with low ohm injectors when they are paired where others struggle to do this. The haltech sprint 500 does not support peak and hold you have to go to the PS1000, which is in a completly different price range, the Links do not have peak and hold either, you need to go to a Vipec V44, and to run paired injectors you need to run the V88. I have not used the closed loop yet, but i do have a tech edge in my car, and i was also impressed when i found out the adaptronic guy programmed the software, just a dropdown box and select tech edge and bang off you go. Just too lazy to do this because when cruising the thing is so stable I just never bothered to set it up like i did on my r33 / r32 skyline. might be putting the 350z on the dyno tonight, but got a few customers cars in for tuning. If i have some time i will make a video and a log file, and save them into a zip and can email it out to anyone who wants to check out the software / logging. i cannot upload the tune files on the forums, it only accepts pictures -

also don't be scared of buying the cheaper basic ecu and hacking wire looms, or making completly new wire looms... the basic ecu and plug in ecu is not very much different! i use the plug in for original un hacked cars, but when a car comes with an engine conversion il go for the basic ecu and wire it in the car with a fresh new harness. end result is pretty much the same and they are even cheaper again. -

we do not have e85 here, so since I have left Australia thats when my e85 days ended... i am confident the select ecu will do the same job as the G4. sky30: the triggering issues... trust me if you had them you would know about it.. on my drift car it has a vi-pec in it, the symptoms are that the rpm will fluctuate like nuts at high rpm, so when on the dyno doing a run i would hit a 7000rpm rev limiter when the engine is only reving to 5500. when you look at the logs you can see how sketchy the RPM is, but this also can have alot to do with old cas;s and cars with cams as well it just puts it all out of whack sometimes, but other times you will never have a problem. its the luck of the draw i guess, i remember one car with a vi-pec had triggering issues even after we installed the autronic trigger disc. you must be one of the lucky ones. and yes 1.09 supports the nissan 360 optical, and it does work quite well. IMO the Autronic ecu tunes better then most of the ecu's on the market, they are just getting really old here now and we are finding many faulty ones, but in their defense the weather here, and the heat they endure in the cars in summer... its a wonder they dont melt. another thing thats nice about the adaptronic is the knock control and how you can plug a set of headphones into the ecu and listen to the engine directly using the stock knock sensors! -

1: YES. and there is even a video of the man behind the Adaptronic himself demonstrating how to set it up and how it works personally. pretty cool huh ? 2: yes it does. 3: the dataloging is not one of its up sides at the moment but improvments are on the way i am told, when i datalog i use a program called mega log viewer available for free here. http://tunerstudio.com/index.php/megalogviewer Also who the hell told you the Vi-pec does not have logging? what a load of bullshit. the Vi-pec has internal memory which can be triggered by a switch or even when the engine goes over a certain RPM, the logging part of the Vi-Pec is very good. back to the adaptronic, I use the software to log the data then i use mega log viewer to open it and view the data. its quite user friendly. 4: yes the skyline select ecu is what you need, its the same one in my 350z mate. http://www.skylineecu.com/ I think you will find that the differences between the vi-pec and the adaptronic would not be much, if you were to drive a car with either of the ecu's installed and tuned you would not be able to tell the difference between them, why buy a used ECU when you can get a brand new one with warranty for around the same price ? either way both ecu's will be a good upgrade for you, you will just find the new Adaptronic better value for money imo. -

nice to see that other tuners agree. have you ever seen the dreaded RPM trigger issues with the select ecu ? I have yet to see it happen with the ones I have tuned. have you ever had to change the trigger disk in the cas??? I have had to do it with the vipec and with autronic, but not the Adaptronic yet, which is weird. bang for buck this ECU is the winner by far, and I do not think that is going to change anytime soon. -

id rather they keep the current look and price. -
to test if its the ecu causing the issue or the solenoid itself, get a small light, a brake light or something and connect it to a plug, with 2 wires. make sure the light works of course, then disconnect the solenoid and connect the light in its place, then run the wire over the engine and over the winscreen and onto the dash board where you can see it. take the car for a drive and simply see if the light turns on! if it does not switch on then you know you got issues. i barely ever see issues with the solenoid itself, its always an external factor, but in your case if you have connected power and ground to it, you should hear it and feel it click on and off.

yeah!! i agree! one thing i noticed is how well my z returned back to idle! it never stalls or misses a beat. you notice lots of little differences when going from one ecu to another thats for sure. 2 years of upgrades? woooahhhh should be good then.
